Senior Director Software Engineering

Advantest Test Solutions, Inc. (ATS) is looking for a Sr. Director of Software Engineering to join our team in Irvine, CA. ATS is a leading provider of massively parallel electronic test systems that includes System Level Test (SLT), burn in and semiconductor/module tests. ATS has an exciting line of high-performance test systems that support the semiconductor industry around the world. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned engineer with a diverse skill set to work within several engineering disciplines. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, proactive, hands on and logical to work successfully in a stimulating engineering environment. The candidate will be required to design, code and develop software systems that envelop different engineering groups within the semiconductor business unit -- including electrical, mechanical and thermal. The candidate will lead a team that performs full life-cycle development in support of product engineering and work with other teams in design, implementation, test, integration and deployment of software systems that control and support automated equipment -- such as robotics, thermal systems and material handling equipment.

Essential Duties Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, integrate and deploy high-level Windows desktop applications using C#, Visual Studio, DevOps and TFS.
• Apply and develop appropriate standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the software development life cycle to support the generation of new products.
• Familiarity with DevOps, Spice Automotive and CMMI Level 3 capability model is a plus.
• Develops end-user documentation in support of application of products.
• May serve as a technical liaison for customers, suppliers, application users and other technical and support personnel.
• Assist technicians and field-support in trouble shooting end-user problem reports.
• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Requirements, Education Skills:

• BS Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related discipline or its equivalent. Master's Degree preferred.
• 15+ years' total software development experience in support of software product development for electronics/embedded systems/automation.
• 8+ years in .NET programming, multi-threaded design, TPL and database development is a must.
• Operational understanding of automation hardware including motor control, power control systems, thermal / PID Control, and related.
• Knowledge of Java, Linux development, C/C++, embedded systems and low-level communication (USB, I2C, SPI, UART) is a plus.
• Must have good debugging skills and be familiar with profiling tools for performance, memory leak detections, deadlock detection, exception handling, etc.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Extremely proactive and highly organized with proven ability to multi-task in a challenging environment.
• Ability to thrive in and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
• Customer-centric, consultative and a passion for excellence.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
• This is an on-site role, even during COVID, as we have been deemed essential from our customer.
