Senior Electrical Engineer

ABOUT THE POSITION

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will:

•Be part of Battery Energy Storage Enclosure System product design team.

•closely work with Product development team - Design engineers from electrical and non-electrical technology domain, Program managers, product manager, Requisition team and other stakeholders.

•Collaborative work with global stake holders, Cross functional teams and delivering key results.

•be part of new product development and product stabilization activities.

•Lead BESS Enclosure Electrical System design- Power system architecture design, Electrical design calculation, Electrical protection coordination, Electrical equipment (Circuit breaker, UPS, Fuse, Disconnector etc.) selections.

•Perform cable selection and cable scheduling for Battery Energy storage system.

•Perform Electrical Power System simulation in MATLAB, ETAP.

•Support in BESS plant electrical core design.

•Work closely with control and I&C Engineer.

•Support in system level power quality (harmonics) analysis.

•Perform and Guide Electrical schematic development.

•Support in developing component and system level qualifications test plan.

•Work closely with procurement and 3rd party contract manufacturers.

•Support in technical documentations.

What will our ideal candidate bring to Fluence?

• Master’s or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in the design of electrical systems.
• 1+ years of experience in the design and/or construction of grid-tied BESS energy storage systems, large-scale renewable systems, large commercial PV systems.
• Experience in Electrical power system design including design calculations considering power flow, short circuit requirements and standard compliance needs.
• Experience electrical component selection like- Circuit breaker, UPS, Fuse, Disconnector, SMPS, Sensors etc.




• Experience in cable selection, scheduling and cable harness etc.
• Experience performing power system studies including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, protection coordination using ETAP, Matlab.
• Strong understanding of the NEC and relevant IEEE standards 
• Strong understanding of IEC, UL certification needed for BESS system
• Good understanding on protection system co-ordination design.
• Experience with a technical programming language such as Python or Matlab
• Experience of managing Bill of Materials.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience & ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
• Demonstrate effectiveness working with remote teams
