Job Responsibilities 

  • Perform advanced quantitative analysis combining technical considerations, economic factors, market rules, and regulatory/policy developments.  
  • Validate and troubleshoot increasingly complex models with meticulous attention to detail.  
  • Act as a subject matter expert to understand, research, present, and justify market forecasts and underlying assumptions.   
  • Manage clients of moderate to high complexity independently, delivering technically rigorous responses across various modeling scenarios and showcasing a professional and polished communication style in client deliverables. 
  • Author and provide thought leadership on reports, visualizations, and presentations, team processes and documentation. 
  • Operate independently, collaborate proactively, and actively mentor and guide junior analysts, fostering a learning environment within the team. 
  • Apply advanced project management and ownership, ensuring timely completion.  
  • Leverage advanced methods using analytical tools using Excel, Python, or R for market forecasting and analysis.  
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field, such as economics or engineering with evidence of strong academic performance. Advanced degrees preferred. 
  • Diversified experience in energy with a utility, consulting firm, government, or non-profit with a focus on energy. 
  • Strong quantitative analytical skills, including the use of Excel and existing knowledge or the ability to learn the basics of coding in software packages such as SAS, Python or R.  
  • Consistent and exemplary interpersonal skills, teamwork skills, and work ethic.  
  • Highly polished and effective verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Highly effective in management of multiple assignments, including anticipating and proactively solving problems, often without supervision.   
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master’s or other advanced degree in a highly quantitative field.  

Compensation: $95,000 - $130,000                   

Negotiable based on qualifications and experience. Ascend highly values our employees and often pays above industry average.
