Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Senior Engagement Manager (Senior Managing Consultant) at IBM iX (under IBM Consulting) you are a trusted advisor that leads the strategy & execution of a portfolio of experience-led customer transformation consulting programs that solve complex and challenging business problems for our most strategic clients. With your seasoned agile project management acumen and experience in working in product-centric organizations you provide leadership to project teams to ensure the successful delivery of digital experience solutions across multiple channels including web and mobile. These solutions encompass the latest in digital technologies including AI cloud mobility and automation to deliver market-leading digital experiences. In addition to providing strong delivery leadership you use your experience in digital transformation to advice our clients and help them understand react and predict the changes that digital technology is causing in their respective industries and guide our clients through a human-centric approach to envision the future. In short you combine your agile delivery leadership and appreciation of experience design with your business acumen and strategic thinking capabilities to successfully lead the delivery of digital engagements.
Your responsibilities will be two-fold: (1) deliver rapid business value for clients by leading a portfolio of core IBM-client teams; (2) act as a truly collaborative partner for clients (building IBM’s imminence and account leadership as a result).
- Deliver value for clients (agile team leadership)
- Lead a portfolio of client delivery teams (with team members across product design and development disciplines)
- Manage end-to-end value for clients – from need identification to solution exploration resourcing scheduling development and release
- Work with various stakeholders to create and align release timelines (addressing and swiftly resolving risks and issues along the way)
- Influence client satisfaction by finding new ways to add value and build client relationship along the way (also contributes to account building)
- Act as a collaborative partner (account building)
- Develop lasting relationships as a trusted partner with client decision makers (trust built from successful team leadership and successful delivery)
- Help our clients explore disruptive strategies that create business value
- Continuously grow as a trusted partner by researching industry trends competitive benchmarking and strategic opportunities to share internally and with clients
- Promote IBM’s growth and eminence by supporting thought leadership and supporting our Associate Partners & Partners in business development activities such as proposal development
- This role can be performed from Ontario Quebec Alberta and British Columbia
Who You Are
- You’re a digital delivery aficionado: you leverage your expertise in leading multi-disciplinary high-performing agile teams (across product design and development disciplines) to deliver customer transformation consulting engagements to senior management client stakeholders
- You have strong program management and agile delivery leadership skills with an ability to build teams across disparate organizations and skill sets formulate a vision and lead teams to successful delivery
- You have ownership and a strong attention to detail: you perform quality review of major project deliverables and have high standards and strong dedication to client success and satisfaction
- You have a strong executive presence: you establish credibility in the first client meeting & develop relationships with senior client leaders and lead work sessions and deliverable presentations with senior client stakeholders
- You’re a visionary: you establish project vision and objectives with the client with a confident point of view and lead the proposal team through the development of project scope and approach to solution
- You’re a workshop master: you plan and execute interactive and outcome-driven workshops to capture & document client requirements and develop solution ideas for future digital experiences
- You’re keen on industry and technology trends: You’re a magnet for learning and keeping up with the latest and greatest business and technology trends and apply this to your work
- You inspire: you mentor and lead junior consultants on proposal and/or delivery teams
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas: business computer science or engineering
- 10+ years of experience in consulting technology or related field with at least 5+ years of experience leading large-scale user-centric digital programs (preferably in a consulting organization or similar)
- Project management and/or agile certifications (e.g. PMI ACP PMP SAFe Program Consultant SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager) and/or relevant experience leading agile and/or SAFe digital programs
- Deep expertise of the software development lifecycle & agile delivery principles in the context of large digital programs
- The ability to articulate leading business issues and trends and the impact technology has on businesses
- Exceptional communication skills (verbal/written) with the ability to articulate complex ideas to all levels of an organization
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint and Excel) and agile delivery management tools (e.g. Confluence and Jira)
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Masters degree or equivalent
