We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our catalog engineering team. The catalog engineering team focuses on product data that we get from our partners and third party providers, and serves that data up to our members, shoppers, and support teams. We build systems to ensure that data gets from our partners to our members as quickly as possible, and we build tools to help our internal teams ensure the highest quality of our product catalog.

As catalog data is fundamental to the grocery delivery experience, our team plays a large part in the Shipt marketplace and helps drive the company's growth plans.

What You'll Gain

You will get experience working with a cross-disciplinary team shipping real-world products to our customers around the nation. You will also give and receive hands-on mentorship from your friendly teammates on topics ranging from design to communications strategy.

Your Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain backend application code
• Collaborate with other teams across the organization (e.g., Retail Partner Success, Business Development, Data Science, Finance) to enable new opportunities for the product catalog
• Keep the big picture in mind so that our architectural patterns can better consume and validate source data
• Build and experiment with different tools and tech, and share your learnings with the broader organization
• Work with a variety of technologies: Go, Postgres, Redis, Kafka, and more
• Participate in the design process to build an efficient, scalable, and maintainable architecture
• Collect and analyze metrics to drive implementation decisions
• Design, improve and document processes
• Review and collaborate with other engineers on their code
• Support your team through encouragement and by example
• Work with a high degree of ownership for all asset and projects
• Mentor and share knowledge with the team

Requirements

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience

• 6+ Years of Software Development Experience
• Proficiency in Go, Java, Python, Ruby or related language
• Proficiency in SQL
• Proficiency with REST APIs
• Proficiency with message queuing technologies/strategies
• Demonstrated ability designing and interacting with complex persisted data models
• Able to both identify and improve poor performing code or database queries
• Thrives on engaging directly with business partners to build an in-depth understanding of business needs and deliver innovative solutions.
• Empathic and enjoys learning from and mentoring other engineers
• Strong sense of ownership and ability to execute a project to completion

Nice to Haves

• Open source software and dependency management
• Object/Document data storage technologies
• Experience with Go is a major plus
• Experience with graphQL, gRPC is a plus
• Experience with Scylla is a plus

This role is open to #remote candidates. The minimum salary is $81,400 for this role.
