Job Description

• Systems Thinking:
  • Understands the application stack and impact of changes in the broader context. Consider CAP (consistency, availability and performance) when making changes to this stack.
• Security:
  • Builds applications that are secure from the start. Seeks out processes and tools that can be utilised to improve the security posture of the system.
• Reliability & Observability
  • Contribute to enhancing logging and monitoring. Develop skills in utilising monitoring tools and awareness of good monitoring metrics. Monitor metric to improve system performance and stability.
• Troubleshooting:
  •  Identifies root cause and steps back to access broader impact of fixes. Looks for patterns in the issues that may require architectural changes to resolve.
• Design/Architecture:
  • Identify and adopt best practices in software engineering at all levels of the SDLC process. Drives conversations around engineering best practices and seeks opportunities to implement them in collaboration with the broader Grow developer community.
  • Develop robust and pragmatic solutions to problems that provide flexibility without sacrificing simplicity. Considers broader implications of system changes to access suitability across system boundaries.
  • Consistently apply design patterns within the codebase to improve code quality.
  • Lead the design and maintenance of the interface boundaries of your applications whilst considering best practices.
  • Seek out opportunities to simplify the code base through refactoring and reduction of code duplication.
• Quality:
  • Write high quality code which is backed by automated test cases. Looks to improve the overall quality of the code by promoting best practices in the automation of the testing pyramid.
  • Ensure that the unit/integration and E2E test code is treated with the same priority as production code and any test failures are appropriately prioritised.
