Senior Engineer

ImpactAs our Site Reliability Engineer in Birmingham, Minneapolis, or working remotely, you will focus on automating and scaling Shipt's API Gateway, service mesh, and content delivery network in a cloud-based Kubernetes environment. You will work on a team of 6-7 engineers to contribute to the design and implementation of the Shipt API Gateway using Go-based services, Terraform, and Helm. You will write production apps that are thoroughly tested and implement observability best practices using Prometheus, Grafana, and Dataset. You will also work with our network, delivery, and application teams to integrate Gateway components with the rest of Shipt's Cloud Infrastructure.

• 3+ years of experience as a software engineer writing production applications in Golang, Java, Kotlin, Rust, or other modern languages

• Bachelor’s degree with programming coursework or equivalent experience

• You are experienced at writing automated tests and have a solid understanding of testing principles and frameworks

• You have deployed and debugged apps in a container-based environment (e.g. Kubernetes)

• You have strong knowledge of Layer 7/HTTP routing and experience configuring application routing in a cloud environment

• You have a good understanding of RESTful principles and the OpenAPI specification

• You have experience with modern observability tools (e.g. Influx, Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace)

Work Arrangement

Shipt considers candidates located near a Shipt office or workspace in Birmingham, San Francisco, or Minneapolis to be hybrid, which means that they have the flexibility to work from home (with leader approval) or at a Shipt office in order to facilitate the ability to innovate, collaborate, and spark team connections. In-office expectations will vary by role and leader. Certain roles may require in-office presence on a full-time basis. Other compensation includes eligibility for an annual bonus and the potential for restricted stock units based on role.

Pay Range:

$110,421-$220,842

All other locations:

$92,036-$184,071
