Senior Engineer - Cost

We are looking for a new colleague to join our Cost Engineering Department in Washington, MI!

Position Summary: Cost Engineering supports different corporate functions in order to realize a holistic product cost management. To this end, best practice approaches are used to specify cost-oriented product designs, optimal manufacturing processes, appropriate overhead cost structures, no over-specification, adequate quality costs as well as optimal global footprint adapted to market requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Preparation of customer-specific product cost calculations in the quotation preparation process
• Cost-analytical evaluation of the products (concepts/product designs) in development projects in order to define a cost-optimized product design (up to concept freeze) and representation of the results towards the interface departments
• Implementation of technical / functional / commercial product comparisons within the framework of product cost benchmarks with the objective of identifying ideas for product cost optimizations based on constructive differences
• Preparation, implementation and postprocessing of design to cost workshops for the overall product, assemblies, and components in cross-functional teams
• Identification of technical optimization approaches and saving potential. Following consultation of these approaches and potential, introduction and follow-up on appropriate measures for cost-optimized design of the products, taking all aspects of overall cost on board
• Cost-analytical evaluation of the products (function / component) within the context of the target costs process according to the provisions specified by Controlling

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in project development teams
• Knowledge of costs and products: Airbags and Inflators
• Willingness to ensure that your knowledge is always up to date
• Well-developed analytical skills, a solution-oriented, thorough, and independent working style
• Service readiness, ability to work in a team and communication skills in an international context (German/English), as well as willingness to travel
• Project management skillset and solid financial acumen required

Education Requirements:

• Minimum Bachelor's Degree in the field of Engineering or comparable education with initial professional experience in a comparable position (e.g., Development).
