Senior Engineer, EHS and Continuous Improvement

Description
This is a multi-function position responsible for site level EHS and Continuous Improvement activities.
This role is a member of the site leadership team and will report to the Director of Operations with local responsibility for facilitating the development of a strong EHS and Continuous Improvement culture. The EHS responsibilities include maintaining and administering corporate policies and adhering to local, state, and federal environmental, health and safety regulations. Continuous Improvement responsibilities include investigating, developing, and implementing methods for producing the right product, in the right quantity, at the lowest cost. Determines labor standards, facility layouts, process methods, ergonomic and cost improvements, manpower planning, and material handling and flow.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage EHS programs and systems for site operations
- Coach and mentor leadership in EHS and Continuous Improvement techniques.
- Identify EHS critical process and system needs and implement appropriate action plans.
- Promote a team environment, initiate/lead personnel and EHS activities.
- Assess the site for adherence to EHS guidelines/regulations and identify/resolve regulatory risks.
- Establish and accomplish aggressive EHS and Continuous Improvement goals.
- Understand, implement, report, and monitor on EHS and Continuous Improvement measures and metrics
- Conduct training in a variety of EHS and Continuous Improvement topics
- Establish and maintain regulatory compliance metrics. Report regulatory metrics to appropriate agencies.
- Ability to research and write effective EHS procedures and policies
- Maintain constructive relationship with internal and external customers
- Helps lead safety investigations, focusing on root cause analysis and solutions.
- Gathers, analyzes, and interprets data from ergonomic evaluations to develop the lowest total cost solution.
- Leads continuous improvement activities to implement developed strategies.
- Evaluates the direct labor content of manufacturing methods, using the appropriate work measurement techniques, to establish and maintain time standards.
- Monitors and evaluates changes to ensure that desirable results are achieved and maintained.
- Maintains and develops value stream maps and departmental layouts.
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities

Skills and Abilities
- Track record with the implementation and maintenance of effective EHS and Continuous Improvement systems and programs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to lead and influence others.
- Demonstrated results leading others in the accomplishment of EHS and Continuous Improvement objectives.
- Ability to work independently
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field (required).
- Three or more years of related experience (required).
- Lean sigma, and Kaizen implementation experience (required)
- Master's degree in a relevant field could substitute for years of experience (preferred)
- Professional certifications (CSP, CIH, CHMM, OHST) (preferred)
Computer Skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
