Job Title: Senior Design to Cost Engineer - Renewable Energy

Job Description:

The Design to Cost Engineer in the renewable energy sector is responsible for developing cost-effective designs for renewable energy projects while ensuring high quality and performance standards.

Key responsibilities include:

Collaborating with Cross-Functional Teams:

Work with engineering, procurement, and program management teams to understand requirements, provide cost targets to the design team, and monitor progress.

Facilitate communication between departments to align on cost and design objectives.

Conducting Cost Analysis and Feasibility Studies:

Analyze product costs and perform feasibility studies to identify cost-saving opportunities.

Evaluate alternative designs and materials to reduce costs without compromising quality.

Utilize engineering principles to balance cost, quality, and performance.

Working with Design Team, Suppliers, and Vendors:

Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and the design team to identify opportunities for cost savings.

Work with the supply chain to source cost-effective materials and components that meet quality standards.

Implementing Cost Reduction Strategies:

Develop strategies to reduce costs and drive initiatives along with the design and development team.

Continuously seek and evaluate new cost-saving opportunities.

Monitor product costs and develop platforms for tracking the same.

Track product costs to ensure they remain within target, providing regular updates and reports to stakeholders.

Keep abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to cost optimization in renewable energy projects.

Apply new knowledge to improve cost-efficiency and project performance.

Qualifications:

12+ years of experience with a master’s degree in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering.

5+ years of relevant experience in design engineering, cost analysis, or related roles in the energy sector, specifically in cost reduction and value engineering, with demonstrated significant savings by leading several cost-out projects.

Must have:

Strong analytical skills and proficiency in cost estimation tools and techniques.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Proficiency in Value Engineering/Value Analysis, Should Cost Analysis.

Experience with cost estimation and analysis tools (e.g., SAP, Costimator).

Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project).

Excellent analytical abilities and mastery of Excel (should have completed several analytical projects using Excel).

Proficiency in PowerPoint.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret, synthesize, and summarize complex data sets.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team and manage multiple tasks effectively.
