Senior Engineer, Fullstack

THE ROLE

RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Build, optimize, and maintain user-facing web features that help art and design lovers sell objects online
• Design elegant abstractions, shareable libraries, and robust APIs
• Work closely with product managers, engineers, designers, and stakeholders across the company
• Communicate persuasively with peers to inspire cooperation
• Mentor, pair, and delegate work to encourage the growth of others
• Make well-reasoned decisions that inspire and energize others
• Provide technical leadership so that others can contribute confidently
• Help recruit, interview, and generally make Sotheby’s a great home for developers

IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

• 4+ years of industry engineering experience in a product-driven environment focusing on full-stack application development, technologies, and platforms 
• Excellent communication skills both internally and externally
• Works collaboratively across functions and teams
• Must have good knowledge and experience with Golang, Javascript, or comparable languages and modern application development frameworks like React
• Must have good knowledge of RDBMS such as Postgres or MySQL
• Working knowledge of GraphQL and GRPC
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS
• Working knowledge of messaging queue systems

The proposed base salary for this position ranges from $138,000-$180,000. In addition to base salary successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus, as well as a competitive benefits package. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
