Role Summary
Magna Steyr is looking for talented and experienced team members in complete vehicle development who are determined and passionate about developing the next level industry standard for vehicle architectures and production solutions. The senior functional safety engineer is responsible for complete vehicle execution of functional safety management and compliance with ISO 26262, providing evidence that safety goals are achieved, and FSC & TSC are appropriate for achieving functional safety of the item. This position has a high level of responsibility and visibility and will interface with OEMs, Magna divisions, global module group teams, performance attribute leaders and testing resources.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead functional safety activities in core or application programs in compliance with ISO 26262 and Magna functional safety development process in collaboration with the program manager . These activities include but are not limited to:
  • Lead Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA) in collaboration with other functional engineers, and lead the team for HARA updates
  • Lead technical safety concept development
  • Lead safety requirement development, safety requirement review, and work closely with functional engineers to ensure the execution of these requirements
  • Guide software engineers in defect management analysis and support tracking Functional safety implementation
  • Support verification engineer in safety verification test and defect management
  • Mentor and coach other functional safety engineers within the team
• Responsible to guide the program team in the development of their work products per the safety case in compliance with ISO 26262.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

• 10+ years in complete vehicle development
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering/ Systems Engineering/ Electrical Engineering/ Computer Science or equivalent (Master's preferred)
• Experience with ISO 26262 full process including validation of functional safety concept and technical safety concept
• Experience with Sotif ISO21448 preferred
• Experience supervising or managing technical personnel preferred
• Excellent communication skills and experience working with global teams
• Experience with at least one project from feasibility to SOP preferred
• Experience in verification of work products of mechatronic system
