The Team

As the IT Global Technology Operations (GTO) team, we strive to deliver the core technology capabilities for the foundation through innovation paired with operational excellence. We aspire to be dynamic, collaborative, technology leaders enabling mission impact with the highest standards of integrity. The Sr. Engineer IT Security and Facilities Systems is focused on designing, implementing and maintaining the related infrastructure and applications that enable us to support the foundation in achieving its goals.

Your Role

As a Sr. Engineer on the Unified Communications & Collaboration Services team, you will play a key role in designing, implementing & supporting secure communications & collaboration services for foundation & affiliate staff globally. Seamless collaboration and virtual interactions are critical capabilities in the foundation's global mission to make a meaningful difference in the world. As a Sr. Engineer on the Unified Communications & Collaboration team, you will be responsible for the administration, planning, and implementation of key communication technologies used across the foundation. This is a highly independent role that will manage the suite of communications solutions, perform upgrades and maintenance on technologies we support, work with key vendors and partners, maintain planning roadmaps, and drive the strategy for an innovative communications & collaboration environment across the foundation.

What You'll Do

Technology Management: Oversight and administration of M365 technologies and related applications and integrations including Microsoft Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, Power Automate, Viva and Engage. Optimize the governance of the M365 environment and processes, and research and design technology solutions based on security and industry standards. Work across teams in the delivery of solutions and in support and maintenance activities. Develop, maintain, and document technical standards and procedures.

Service Strategy: Support the Unified Communications and Collaboration service strategy and solutions with the proper use of the M365 applications, including usability, interoperability, security, and compliance. Collaborate with the service manager to ensure that the approach and roadmap creates business value with technically sound solutions.

Problem Solving/ Issue Resolution: Provide domain expertise for resolution of incidents and service issues raised to the service team. Engage with vendors for issues causing disruption of service.

Team Leadership: Influence, build trust, empower team members, and build positive relationships across the team and foundation to help drive the collaboration environment and tools forward. This role will require strong partnership and management of contingent staff and/or managed services.

Continuous Improvement: Monitor the collaboration business capability landscape to find opportunities for greater long-term business value. Actively participate in the industry solution landscape to supervise the development of available solutions and adapting the team's M365 solution architecture.

Your Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years industry experience, or equivalent.
  • 3+ years' experience working with M365 applications.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge with the architecture, design, settings, configuration, and troubleshooting of Microsoft 365 products and solutions.
  • Experience with PowerShell, including the use of PnP, Graph API, CSOM, REST API, in the development, maintenance, and review of scripts for automation, reporting, and other integrations.
  • Experience in the design and implementation of identity integration with M365 applications, including Azure AD applications, service principals and managed identities and security standards.
  • Expertise of Microsoft Exchange Online and Microsoft Teams
  • Expertise of Microsoft Purview data loss prevention solutions and data protection planning.
  • General familiarity with the Microsoft Viva suite of Topics, Connections, Insights, and Learning.
  • Current knowledge of industry standard methodologies and trends in the field of communications & collaboration solutions.
  • Experience supporting, configuring, and implementing (and/or migrating to) cloud-based Microsoft 365 applications within an enterprise environment of 1,000 users or more.
  • Experience estimating resources and schedules for delivery efforts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience in promoting a culturally competent and diverse work environment.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering solutions or services designed around user needs, ideally using a human centered design methodology.
  • Ability to influence peers and managers and build consensus while dealing with ambiguity.
  • Familiarity with agile processes and project management experience.
  • Ability to articulate the value achieved through technology/project across the IT org and to non-technical audiences at all levels.

The typical salary range for this role is $101,000 to $188,100. The exact offer will be determined by a variety of factors such as the candidate's individual skills, qualifications, and experience relative to the requirements of the role.
