Job description:
Engineering Product Integrity is seeking a motivated individual for a Virtual Reality Lead Engineer position to work on the next generation of Pratt & Whitney aircraft engines. This senior engineer position will lead efforts to integrate cutting edge virtual reality systems to shape and analyze the engine system design while establishing requirements that keep the safety, reliability, and maintainability of P&W products world class.
The VR Lead Engineer will be responsible for standing up a system of hardware and software components to enable maintainability studies on an advanced military development engine program. Strong troubleshooting skills are a must and existing VR knowledge, or hands-on mechanical experience are preferred skills for candidates.
The VR system will be used to influence the engine design and validate maintainability design requirements to meet both customer requirements as well as P&W's best practices and design standards. The Maintainability VR Lead Engineer will work with the designers to optimize reliability and repair of frequently serviced components, plumbing and harnesses by evaluating the engine digital model, LRU (line replaceable unit) envelopes and field maintenance data in a 3D virtual setting.
Other tasks include:
Manage acquisition and development of Virtual Reality tools (via project schedule, budget, deliverables to program and customers).
Perform Maintainability analysis in the digital mock up and using the new virtual reality tools to create simulations. Perform maintainability assessments of virtual configurations and provide real-time feedback to design teams to ensure highly maintainable product designs
Analyze tasks for accessibility, ease of maintenance and times required to remove and replace the line replaceable components.
Documenting the procedural steps required to perform selected maintenance tasks.
Drive the creation of mean time to repair models
Contribute to content for Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Safety Analysis, reliability allocations and predictions.
Supporting reviews of development test failures and maintenance events, and review root cause and closure criteria provided by IPTs/CIPTs for adequacy.
Additionally the candidate will support integration activities and reviews with internal and external customers and air system contractors.
Basic Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Engineering
- 5+ years of engineering experience or 3+ years of experience with an advance degree
- US citizenship due to government contracts
- Must be able to obtain a security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS Degree in Engineering
- Active Security Clearance
