Collins Aerospace Connected Aviation Solutions (CAS) Networks and Messaging Services support over 1,500 aviation customers transmitting over 75 million messages per day across the Aviation community.

We are currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with a passion for engineering to join the Messaging Implementation engineering team.

The candidate will work directly with Engineering Management, Program Management, Customers and Technical Engineering leads across multiple disciplines and supporting groups. This position will focus on the ARINC integrator product line and help with the implementation and deployment of the services for both domestic and international customers.

This position is fully remote, and employees may be expected to travel to the site and customer locations as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop and configure software applications and services using Java and JavaScript
• Work closely with team members through the full software development lifecycle: business/systems analysis, requirements gathering, documentation, development, testing and delivery
• Provide technical advice to our internal sales / marketing personnel, program managers, customers to solidify requirements and discuss best solutions.
• Follow solid engineering practices including configuration management using CM tools such as Subversion or CVS, and documentation according to ISO standards
• Develop software applications that interact with relational databases
• Develop Web services requiring extensive knowledge of JSON and XML
• Develop software applications utilizing the OSGI framework
• Develop software applications incorporating aircraft messaging in modern queuing systems
• Troubleshooting and work directly with customers

Basic Qualifications:

• Experience with messaging systems / protocols / messaging formats.
• Ability to work after business hours is required because we support global customers in Americas, Europe and Asia.
• Experience with enterprise applications and knowledge of Linux, Networking, JMS, OSGi, Java, JavaScript, Maven, Java XML, JSON and Java EE
• Good written communication skills, and the ability to work in a dynamic work environment
• A solid understanding of clustering, web services, message driven beans, XML, entity classes and persistence with SQL databases
• Possess experience working with Visio, and the Microsoft Suite
• Bachelor's degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR
• Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience OR
• In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
• Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor's degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
• US Citizen or GC Holder

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with MQSeries, AMQP, MQTT,
• Develop Web applications using HTML, Angular and JavaScript
• Knowledge and experience developing messaging applications with point-to-point, publish subscribe for both queuing and topics
• Possess basic knowledge of writing queries, and stored procedures in SQL
• Familiarity with the NetBeans IDE and Subversion SVN
• Protocol knowledges including SFTP, RabbitMQ, MQ, Kubernetes
• Experience with Commercial Airline / Global Distribution Service operational messaging.
• Experience with networks configurations
