WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Engineer- Structures for our Buffalo, New York office. Be involved in projects with our Transportation Structures Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges.
The Buffalo Office provides transportation and infrastructure services to numerous agencies and private clients in Western New York and the North East United States. Our structural work includes design and retrofit of facilities and transportation related structures for a wide variety of public and private sector clients including: New York State Department of Transportation; New York State Parks; City of Buffalo; National Grid; various bridge commissions and Authority's; counties and municipalities in Western New York and the North East.

Your Impact
- The ideal candidate will have broad-based, hands-on experience in structural engineering including the ability to execute tasks as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Assignments may include: Planning, Analysis, Design and Rehabilitation of Bridge, Commercial Building, Industrial Facility, Transit and Transportation Facility's; Repair and Retrofit of Communication Towers; Analysis Design and Retrofit of Retaining Walls; Construction Staging Analysis; Evaluation of Existing Structures and Load Ratings; Plan Development, Preparation of Specifications, Review of Construction Phase Submittals and Shop Drawings, Preparation of Technical Reports, and Participation in Field Work including Construction and Structural Integrity Inspection.
- Other duties may include: Project Management; Mentoring; Client Interaction and Preparation of Proposals including Cost Proposals.
- Work collaboratively with other engineers, professionals, and infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, local, and privately funded improvement and development projects.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Science degree and minimum of 5+ years demonstrated experience in structure design is required.
- A New York State Professional Engineers license or professional engineers license in another state with ability to obtain a New York State Professional Engineers license is required.
- Ability to efficiently use structural analysis software such as MIDAS, Larsa, SAP 2000, RISA 3D or equal is required.
- The Buffalo office uses Revit BIM software on several projects and the ability to understand and use this software to its fullest extent is desirable.
- Experience with project scheduling software a plus.
- This position requires the ability to work independently with minimum supervision as a lead engineer on both small and major projects.
- Successful candidates will have a understanding of 3D design and knowledge and propensity to successful manage and contribute to full 3D design of projects and paperless design and detailing.
- Successful candidate will mentor and guide junior engineers during the planning and design process.
- Successful candidates will have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Candidates must be immediately authorized to work in the United States.
- Master's Degree in Engineering.
Compensation and Benefits

Expected Salary: $78,300 - $157,000
WSP USA is providing the compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, or federal law.
