The best infrastructure isn't built in a day or even a year and it's certainly not built without a team. Here's just some of what you'll do:
- Contribute to the analysis of business, application, and technical infrastructure requirements.
- Design, build, enhance and integrate the infrastructure required to support various platforms and our business portfolio
- Support initiatives that deliver workable end-to-end infrastructure solutions
- Participates in test planning and execution
This role will actively focus on providing people-leadership, technical infrastructure knowledge and contribute to the infrastructure teams' design, run of an acquisition, installation, and configuration of technical components, and leads day-to-day operations for infrastructure. Responsible for ensuring that infrastructure solutions meet technical standards. Organizational Context People leader for an infrastructure operations team reporting to an Engineering Director, span of control of at least eight team members, including both colleagues and contractors; co-located with team and director.
Key Responsibilities Infrastructure Cloud Operations:
- Participate in the infrastructure design and selection process
- Align customer needs to the evolution of the platform product roadmap
- Provide beneficial solutions for business, both tactically and strategically
- Handle the diagnosis and correction of infrastructure problems
- Provide internal analysis and support to ensure proper criticality during outages or periods of degraded system performance
- Work closely with development teams to define, frame, and bring together application needs
- Conduct infrastructure performance and security assessments
- Support the certification and accreditation of infrastructure on customer networks
- Lead customers to understand how current or envisioned processes align to industry standard methodology
- Define processes, documentation, and engineering diagrams for technical and operations support
- Prioritize, complete and lead projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines
- People Leader to individual scrum team, including B30 colleagues and contractors, dotted line leadership to B35 colleagues in scrum team(s)
- Drive the team's technical improvements and roadmap
- Take accountability for the technical maturity of the team
- Mentor and guide team members to success; identify strengths and areas for growth in direct reports and guides them to grow in their careers while being more productive on the team
- Nurture an environment of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer science engineering, or related experience required; advanced degree preferred
- 6-8+ years of active engineering experience in infrastructure
- 2+ years leadership experience in a complex technical environment and/or comparable experience
- Successful design, creation and deployment of one or more enterprise-grade technology assets, including integration of cross-platform solutions in an Agile product environment
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies and practices such as Scrum/Kanban, iterations, user stories
- Hands-on experience with automation testing and documentation (i.e. automated, functional, and performance)
- Ability to learn and adapt in a rapidly changing environment.
- Adaptable to changes in product requirements, organizational structures and business conditions
- Engaged with the open source community, demonstrated public speaking, etc.
- Hands-on experience with a variety of software languages, operating systems, or network protocols
- Practical application using Agile or other rapid application development methods
Knowledge/Skills:
- Specific technical experience working with one or more of the following areas: Network Infrastructure, Software-Defined Networking, VMWare, Unix, Citrix, Linux, Solaris, Windows, Z/OS, Junos, IOS, etc
- Specific Operating System and Middleware build experience for both virtual and physical servers for Windows and Linux OS
- Experienced knowledge of one or more of the following: infrastructure and server theories, principles, and concepts, application infrastructure and standards, networking fundamentals, storage management (i.e. SAN) design and support, databases (i.e. IMS, DB2, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, MS Access, etc.), middleware technologies (i.e. WebSphere)
- Experienced knowledge using the core tools used in the planning, analyzing, crafting, building, testing, configuring and maintaining of assigned application(s)
- Core knowledge of platform delivery methodology (Agile, Scrum, Agile XP, TestDriven Development, Waterfall, etc.)
- Confirmed understanding of software defined networking, automation and orchestration
