Senior Engineering Manager, Privacy

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager, Privacy reporting to the Head Of Trust Engineering to join us in building a trusted platform for Discord's users. What You'll Be Doing

• Lead a team of Privacy Engineers who develop platform-level privacy tools and services, assist with privacy-aware product development, and advise on privacy best practices.
• Help build cross-functional programs that are foundational to privacy-first software development.
• Help develop and maintain product features and cloud infrastructure to ensure “privacy-by-design”.
• Partner with Engineering, Data Governance, Legal & Policy, and Security to foster an influential, and cross-functional Privacy organization.

You Will Thrive In This Role If

• Working knowledge of Privacy regulations (e.g. GPDR, CCPA, and Digital Services Act)
• 3+ years of experience as a Software Engineering Manager and have managed a team of 3+ Engineers.
• 3+ years of experience in Privacy Engineering or adjacent domains (like Security Engineering).
• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer working on distributed systems with millions of users.
• Experience programming in at least one general purpose programming language (e.g. Python, Rust, and Go).
• Experience working in our preferred infrastructure technologies (e.g. GCP, Cloudflare, Kubernetes, and Terraform)
• Experience working with our preferred data technologies (e.g. BigQuery, Looker, and Mode)
• Confidence in writing the roadmap - not just following one.
• Experience with database and data storage technologies like Scylla and Postgres (Optional)

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $256,000 to $270,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related experience and education. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity, or benefits.
