The pandemic has highlighted how important telecoms networks are to society. Nokia's Network Infrastructure group is at the heart of a revolution to bring more and faster network capacity to people worldwide through our ambition, innovation, and technical expertise.
What you will learn and contribute to
- Develop & maintain chassis & board build (including Mechanicals, Optics) & distribution plans. This begins with forecasting based on history & work with program leads. The plan needs to be updated by PM with prototype requirements collected & negotiated with key principles and these updates need to be communicated to key principles.
- Work with purchasing team to ensure these requirements are clear & long lead items are ordered well in advance. Work with board Leads to ensure they are keeping up with build plans via pcb/fab and pcba/assembly orders. Communicate plan changes to key parties as needed.
- Drive weekly update calls with various technical teams & document action items & meeting notes with follow up as needed.
- Develop & maintain prototype budget for the Hardware team. This entails collecting general idea of the next year's development plans and then translating to estimates of costing & quantities based on history & discussions with Program Leads. The Program Managers update & report the budget at least quarterly with cost/quantity/schedule adjustments based on build plans as well as to incorporate additional or canceled development programs.
- Program Manager will interface with NPI buyers for hardware, mechanical and optical critical early part requirements.
- Remote support of multiple teams located throughout US and Canada is a requirement.
- Consolidate and generate management reports for weekly status from engineering teams for Program Leads and management team.
Your skills and experience
Degrees: Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering preferred. Mechanical or other type of degree with suitable background acceptable.
Types of skills - someone who is comfortable working in the background & is good at figuring out what is the most important/highest priority work w/o much supervision. Excellent communication skill is required. General familiarity with system level development is extremely useful. Understanding of Diags, FW, hardware development processes, BIOS/Boot ROM interactions is useful.
On occasion requires complex project plan development (at the beginning of a new system e.g.) in MS Project. Many of the tools used are built in MS Excel, One Note, Microsoft Teams and utilities and so proficiency in this tool is required.
