Job Description

The Senior Enhanced Due Diligence Analyst is responsible for analyzing, researching customer information, assessing customer risk, and determining not only if the customer is high risk, but whether the customer's risk is heightened enough to discontinue the relationship with the bank. The CDD/EDD Analyst works with uncertainty, complex structures, international exposure, and domestic / international formation of organizations is accountable for conducting thorough analysis of customer information to identify customers that may present a higher degree of risk for money laundering schemes, or other BSA related risks identified through automated risk scoring or supplemental risk detection.

How You'll Spend Your Time

  • You will administer the companies enhanced due diligence regulations, bank policies and procedures, with a specific focus around higher risk customers.
  • You will conduct an analysis of potential clients which are higher risk entities, then provide recommendations to management through data collection, scans, and news sources
  • You will lead enhanced due diligence review projects, and conducting analysis of various systems to verify information related to higher risk customers.
  • You will be responsible for executing new or changing industry requirements affecting the responsibilities within this area.
  • You will work closely with account officers, relationship managers, business lines, and bank clients to obtain needed customer due diligence or enhanced due diligence information.

Education & Experience Requirements

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through an Associates' degree and 2-4 years of related work experience at a financial institution or at a government agency that regulates financial institutions. 2 years' experience in bank/brokerage operations, suspicious activity monitoring, or customer due diligence preferred.

  • Knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, OFAC, and USA Patriot Act regulations.
  • Accountable for ensuring appropriate processes for Sections 312, 313, 319 and 326 of the USA PATRIOT Act (USAPA) covering Foreign Correspondent Banking, Annual Due Diligence, Foreign Correspondent Bank Certification, and Customer Identification Procedures (CIP) respectively.
  • Participate to ensure the Actimize high risk customer scoring system is calibrated appropriately.
  • Ability to participate in special projects, such as research and analysis of new systems or procedures.
  • Participant in the resolution of issues identified by internal review, federal regulators or third-party auditors.
  • Accountable for executing new or changing BSA requirements affecting the responsibilities within this area.
  • Thorough knowledge of concepts, Bank standards, and best practices relating to government regulations and applicable laws.
  • Excellent analytical and reasoning skills with a demonstrated ability to identify potential problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions regarding BSA / AML high risk customer due diligence monitoring and reporting.
  • Investigate and research potentially high risk customer activities; effectively arriving at sound risk based conclusions.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex information and directions, interpret data or information in a timely manner and bring assigned tasks to completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to detect patterns, trends and unusual account activity by conducting extensive research while utilizing various banks' and external sources.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
