CNA is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Enterprise Architect for our Data Portfolio, with a focus on furthering our cloud implementation and building target integrations. This individual contributor will be responsible for creating the architecture vision, guardrails, and supporting implementation, as well as connecting the work with the rest of the enterprise. Most importantly this individual will act as a servant leader, ensuring that the System Architects and teams are enabled to execute and empowered to make good decisions quickly. JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Defines the high-level architecture vision and value stream of our data from acquisition through customer usage, and guidance on structuring the data efficiently.
  • Identifies opportunities and influences other parts of the enterprise to build with a data mindset.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architects and Portfolio Leads to understand the existing applications and strategy to develop technical solutions that meet scalability, security, and performance, and technical agility goals.
  • Works alongside System Architects to create a roadmap of the architecture runway, and partners with Product Management and RTE (Release Train Engineer) to ensure we are incorporating the enablements appropriately.
  • Coaches and mentors System Architects and team members to become the architects of the future.
  • May play the System Architect role as needed on a team.
  • Brings a customer centric mindset to the prioritization and influencing of our architectural and delivery backlogs.
  • Leads and facilitates architecture governance and review processes, including creation and technology standards, patterns, and strategies.
  • Researches and evaluates new and/or alternative solutions and technologies to enhance operational effectiveness, reduce costs and/or system risks and increase speed to market.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, test and learn, and continuous learning.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
  • Strategic and innovative leader within a technology organization, passionate about advancing an overall architectural strategy and vision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal and consultative skills to work effectively and build partnerships and relationships across the organization.
  • Passionate servant leadership skills, striving to enable others
  • SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) methodology experience, or other agile architecture experience is preferred.
  • Insurance experience is required, commercial and downstream experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of insurance models such as ACORD, experience using this or others to accelerate data through platforms. Experience with different data lake patterns and approaches to managing substantial amounts of data.
  • Google Cloud experience, particularly in data tooling, or transferrable skills from other vendors.
  • Data Engineering experience across multiple toolsets
  • Ability to connect the dots across a large portfolio(s), while capable of diving deep as needed

Education & Experience
  • Degree in Business Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Typically, at least nine years of solid, diverse work experience in technology, including experience with business analysis and solution implementation.
  • Experience leading complex project teams and engaging with senior level business partners
  • Experience in commercial insurance industry and applicable certifications preferred
