LOCATION: This job is fully remote eligible within the United States. If located in Jacksonville, FL some onsite may be required.
SUMMARY
The Senior Enterprise Database Architect will be responsible for providing entire database enterprise support. Applies database engineering practices to design, build, run and maintain the database and infrastructure required for distributed fault-tolerant systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible to self-perform database POCs of various database types such as Postgres, TiDB, MSSQL, Oracle, Mysql. Able to provide database solutions at enterprise level.
- Creates managed database services for cloud.
- Works with Database replication, setting database backup, database security. Provides database active-active solutions and implements provided solutions.
- Reviews the existing code and modifies as per operational requirements.
- Reviews application architecture including schema analysis, tune indexes, key, database, and application optimization. Provides database expertise to tune application overall.
- Works independently on many database technology projects frequently as a project leader and subject matter expert.
- Engages in the entire lifecycle of our systems development from inception through production maintenance.
- Supports and maintains database services by measuring and monitoring system health metrics.
- Designs database systems to be able to be fault-tolerant and scalable.
- Provides primary operational support and engineering for test and production systems.
- Contributes to the sustainability of our systems through automation.
- Works with team members and information technology teams to ensure changes to new or existing database technologies are assimilated and functioning correctly.
- Defines enterprise database requirements for information technologies and solutions.
- Assists senior management to build data strategy.
- Researches and understands emerging technologies, tools, platforms, and frameworks.
- Participates and provides evidence in information technology compliance activities in support of internal and/or external audits.
- Develops and fosters strategic relationships and establishes key organizational partnerships.
- Establishes collaborative working relationships with development and release teams to improve services through rigorous testing.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience
- Typically requires twelve (12) or more years of experience in information technology with at least eight (8) years of experience working across multiple architecture disciplines
- Extensive knowledge of enterprise database architecture
- Experience with database migration/tech refreshes
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Prefers 10+ years of experience in database administration, development, engineering and architect
- Experience on providing database POCs and provide database solutions on database types such as Postgres, TiDB, Cockroachdb, SQL Server, Cassandra, RDS, MySQL, Oracle etc.
- Experience with Postgres, TiDB, and/or Oracle highly preferred
- Experience with database self-services
- Experience application architecture including schema analysis, tune indexes, key, database, and application optimization
- Experience providing database expertise to tune application overall
- Experience database replication technology for both disaster recovery and high
- Experience working in a highly available, multi-datacenter environment
- Understanding of network Protocols, DNS, VPN and Load Balancing
- Experience analyzing and troubleshooting scalable distributed systems
- Experience working in an environment with CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with databases running on operating systems (Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and/or Windows OS)
- Ability to automate routine tasks, debug and optimize code
- Knowledge of financial services or fintech industry
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization (e.g., executive, management, individual contributors)
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, team, and time management skills
- Ability to persuade and influence others on the best approach to take
- Ability to estimate work effort for project sub-plans or small projects and ensure the project is successfully completed
