About the Job
BWAM is looking for a Senior Multifamily Equity Analyst to join the Asset Management Team. The ideal candidate is a savvy problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, challenging environment and consistently exceeds expectations.
Our robust platform provides opportunities across a variety of asset classes, financial modeling, fund level reporting, and underwriting of equity investments. Regular communication with internal and external decision-makers will be expected in this role, offering exposure to industry leaders in the real estate investment community.
We are seeking an agile team player who enjoys working cross-functionally with different parts of the organization. An ideal candidate will have held similar positions in acquisitions, asset management or development across major asset classes. Successful candidates for this position will have the equivalent of three to five years of relevant professional experience.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite multifamily investment opportunities using Excel-based underwriting models, including complex cash flow, budget, IRR and fund/partnership waterfall modeling;
- Assist in the proactive monitoring and hands-on asset management of a portfolio of multifamily real estate equity investments across 15,000+ units and 50+ properties throughout the US consisting of stabilized, value-add and ground-up development projects;
- Review and analyze business plans, property-operating performance and capital improvement projects;
- Liaison with operating partners and leading members of the Acquisition Teams to review business plan execution and drive asset/portfolio performance;
- Develop and maintain detailed asset-level cash flow reforecasting models;
- Guide Analysts in the maintenance of detailed asset- and portfolio-reporting models to monitor the performance of investments at the asset level; and
- Demonstrate strong leadership abilities and effective management skills, with a desire to manage, mentor and develop team members.
Qualifications
BWAM seeks to hire entrepreneurial individuals who are highly motivated, mature and intelligent, with demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. The successful candidate should have:
- Asset management experience, including development and analysis of real estate-based financial models with a focus on multifamily, office, and industrial assets;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with property underwriting and advanced financial modeling;
- Experience with multifamily accounting software (i.e. Real Page/Yardi) and revenue management systems (i.e. Yieldstar/LRO) preferred;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Attention to detail with superior organizational skills;
- Proven ability to multitask and quickly understand new concepts;
- Desire to work as part of a small, highly entrepreneurial team;
- A bachelor's degree;
Base Salary: $80,000 - $90,000

- Asset-level analytics: Providing quantitative and qualitative investment- and portfolio-level performance reports by consolidating and analyzing monthly operating reports produced by operating partners to track and monitor performance against initial underwriting;
- Active Asset Management Support: The team works closely with Acquisition Teams to help monitor all strategic and joint-venture operating partners on a day-to-day basis. Responsibilities include weekly leasing calls, monthly operations reviews, annual budget and business plan reviews and financial analysis; and
- Investment- and Fund-level Reforecasting: BWAM is responsible for creating proprietary investment-level valuation models for the portfolio to enhance our ability to reforecast investment-and fund-level performance on a routine basis.
