Senior Estimating Analyst
Job Description
We are pleased to announce the relocation of our corporate headquarters to Greenway Plaza's Phoenix Tower in Houston's Upper Kirby neighborhood.
The Senior Estimating Analyst is primarily responsible for maintaining existing costs and analyzing variances. Included in this is the responsibility of training and providing leadership to team members by initiating projects, driving resolutions, and recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Estimating and Releases
- Estimate labor and material takeoffs for new plans, elevations, and options.
- Provide final approval for new home release budgets.
- Analyze variances submitted by Construction and update costs as needed.
Variance Analysis and Takeoff Audits
- Audit takeoff regularly to identify issues and/or cost saving opportunities.
- Analyze variances monthly to identify trends and/or training issues.
- Review analysis and audit overviews submitted by Estimating Analysts as requested.
- Provide cost analysis for potential cost saving opportunities.
- Analyze and improve existing processes to address issues and delegate as needed.
- Maintain existing variance reports and create new reports to identify trends.
- Coordinate with Construction as needed to review trends.
Maintenance
- Update takeoff uploads to stay current with company specs and standards and delegate as needed.
- Integrate new and updated company specs, standards, and programs into takeoff and uploads and delegate as needed.
- Review mass takeoff revisions and takeoff upload updates made by Estimating Analysts.
- Coordinate with Production regularly to identify automation opportunities.
- Review all changes made to Production templates and update upload formulas as needed.
Miscellaneous
- Lead Estimating Analyst training program and delegate as needed.
- Attend meetings with Construction as needed.
- Create memos as requested to overview information to Construction.
- Assist in ensuring takeoff and uploads are prepared for memo approval by Management.
- Complete high-level projects as needed.
- Implement changes to cost analysis practices as needed.
- Review all design changes and cost updates made to existing plans by Estimating Analysts or delegate as needed.
- Review proposed costs for new plans, elevations, and options as requested.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required, College degree preferred.
- Requires at least 3 years of relevant experience, residential construction experience preferred.
- The ability to interpret cost analytics to identify inaccuracies, trends, and saving opportunities.
- Demonstrated computer skills including a working knowledge of MS Office products, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Current, valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
