Senior External Reporting Analyst
Job Description
As part of the External Reporting team, you'll have broad exposure to numerous teams within nVent, including executive leadership, to build strong internal business partnerships, and you'll also interact with a number of external business partners. This role offers opportunity for advancement and rotational opportunities within our Accounting and Finance organization which is continually evolving.
WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:
- Assist in the preparation of the consolidated financial statements and related footnotes for inclusion in quarterly and annual SEC filings (including benefit plans and other statutory reports), ensuring compliance with all reporting and disclosure requirements under US GAAP and the SEC
- Critically assess financial reporting information received from other functions and service providers to determine its impact on the Company's reporting
- Assist in coordinating quarterly review process and annual audit process with external auditors
- Stay current on technical accounting matters and consider implications to financial reporting and the Company's Sarbanes-Oxley 404 process and Policies and Procedures
- Partner with Investor Relations and support preparation of financial communications, including earnings releases and annual report
- Assist with research on technical accounting topics, writing accounting position memos, and implementation of new accounting standards
- Assist with preparation of materials related to the annual valuation processes, including related to goodwill and intangibles, pension plans, and stock options and grants
- Prepare quarterly share-based compensation and lease entries
- Interface with senior finance leadership team, outside public accountants and attorneys, internal legal, tax and treasury departments
- Critical focus on continuous improvement initiatives that increase the efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of all external reporting deliverables
- Other job related duties as assigned
YOU HAVE:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required- CPA certification preferred.
- 2+ years of experience either in a public accounting firm or persons with a combination of public accounting and industry experience with financial consolidation/SEC reporting experience preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP, SEC, ASC/FASB and technical accounting pronouncements.
- Must be a detail-oriented, proactive self-starter who shows initiative and is able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
- Strong work ethic and sense of personal responsibility for work outcomes with the ability to work under time constraints
- Excellent computer skills, with strong working knowledge of Excel and Word. Experience with OneStream, XBRL, and other software a plus.
- Requires strong communication and social skills, and works effectively with all levels and functions in the organization.
- Ability to take work direction from several people and effectively prioritize duties.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
