Job Description

About Us

At Blank Street, we believe great coffee should be an everyday ritual. With shops across Brooklyn, Manhattan, Boston, DC, and London, we’re making quality coffee more accessible. Blank Street originated in an effort to change the specialty coffee status quo. Starting with small-format shops and continuing with a simplified menu and top-of-the-line tech, we’ve always been focused on improving the coffee experience. We partner with amazing local vendors and brands, and have some of the best baristas and HQ members out there on our team. Love coffee? Keep reading

What’s Brewing?

We are looking for a business leader to lead Blank Street’s UK Finance function. As our Senior Finance Manager, your core objective will be to help build a world-class financial planning and analysis function that provides support & fuel to the company's growth initiatives. You will start off as an Independent Contributor for 5-6 months with support from outsourced AP and Payroll teams as well as from the internal Finance team members to get familiar with our business and procedures (operational accounting, month-end close, inventory management, AP/AR, treasury, tax, payroll etc.)

The Senior Finance Manager will also build out the Strategic Finance arm of the UK Finance function and lead the financial modeling and analysis of growth initiatives, Blank Street’s 5-year growth plan and 3-year budget for the UK market. As we grow the brand further, you will be responsible for evaluating if we need additional team members who would be reporting into you.

This role is an in-person position at our London Office. The UK Senior Finance Manager will report into the Global Head of Finance and have a dotted line to the UK Managing Director.

  • Manage monthly financial close in a timely and accurate manner, including preparation of reconciliations of all revenue and expense accounts, fixed assets, prepaids, accruals, journal entries, review of inventory, and variance analysis
  • Work with Accountants on the Finance team to evaluate, develop, and implement accounting policies and controls, including documentation and technical memos
  • Work closely with Facility Operations teams for routine 4-wall location reporting & analysis, including budget vs actual reporting, while ensuring completeness and accuracy
  • Manage revenue recognition and master the order to cash/delivery process
  • Manage annual audit and tax filings with external firms
  • Manage equipment leases and accounting for operating and capital leases
  • Partner with department leaders to understand key issues and business drivers and run point on financial models and forecasts, and increase efficiency of periodic reporting
  • Build, forecast against and maintain annual budgets

Who You Are:

  • 4-6 years of relevant experience in corporate finance; accounting, CFA or CPA is a plus but not required
  • Knowledge of and experience with ERP systems and implementations; Netsuite, Brex, Coupa, SAP, would be a plus
  • You can learn extremely fast

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary and equity offering
  • Private medical care
