We are currently seeking a Systems Accountant to assist with both supporting and maintaining the finance systems as well as day-to-day operational tasks and project activities, to help deliver the team objectives. The role will also be involved in planning, testing, and implementing major changes and updates to key systems used by the Group. Working within a global function you will be in contact with overseas offices on a regular basis. The post holder will be encouraged to take on additional responsibilities as experience and departmental requirements allow. You are expected to provide finance systems support for various functions within the organization and will be responsible for core elements of the month-end close process. The ideal candidate will combine strong systems knowledge with the operational finance skills of an accounting professional, together with the team ethos and coordination of a project manager. As a Finance System Support Analyst, you will be responsible for providing technical support and expertise for finance systems, ensuring their smooth operation, resolving issues, and supporting end-users in utilizing these systems effectively. Your role involves troubleshooting, system maintenance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to address finance system-related challenges.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Working as a finance systems subject matter expert supporting steady state processes and changes in financial systems and processes.
- Month-end processes and systems support; including creation of monthly reports required by management, monitoring system behavior and key posting processes and handling other global accounting transactions.
- Maintenance of finance systems including master data, query resolution, error reporting to an internal team of developers and in some cases an external support provider.
- Provide support to finance teams in all locations, including day to day query resolution and first level support for issues in the month end close process, including issue escalation, tracking and communications through to resolution and alignment with IT on post close follow up on root cause and related corrective actions.
- Technical Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for end-user support related to finance systems, addressing queries, resolving issues, and providing guidance on system functionalities.
- Issue Resolution: Investigate and troubleshoot reported issues with finance systems, diagnosing root causes, and implementing timely and effective solutions to minimize downtime and disruptions.
- System Maintenance: Conduct routine system maintenance activities, including updates, patches, and configurations to ensure system stability and security.
- User Training and Documentation: Develop user guides, training materials, and documentation for finance systems, conducting training sessions to enhance user understanding and proficiency.
- Collaboration: Liaise with finance, IT, and other departments to gather requirements, coordinate system upgrades, and facilitate the implementation of system changes or enhancements.
- Data Integrity and Security: Monitor and ensure data integrity within finance systems, implement and enforce security protocols, and adhere to compliance standards and regulations.
- Understanding and aiding all aspects of the use of the finance systems – including accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, fixed assets and general ledger accounting, CRM and BI reporting.
- Work on projects; help support improvements and controls within the finance systems, with alignment to upstream and downstream systems, as required by the business.
- Taking an active role in specifying, testing, and supporting new initiatives such as the development of new processes and internal controls or system enhancements.
- Tracking list of finance organization system priorities and supporting quarterly release cycle for resolution of repeat bugs or prioritized enhancements.
- Ensures that systems are modified appropriately to meet new requirements including compliance requirements. Adheres to best practise for financial systems use and ensures this is widely practised throughout the organisation.
- Assist regional financial controllers and commercial business partners with internal controls and queries.
