POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Financial Analyst plays an important role in the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Unit by providing timely, accurate, and meaningful financial analysis that supports informed business decisions and enterprise performance management and improvement. This role will develop robust driver-based financial models, support budgeting and forecasting, build industry/company knowledge, and develop a strong understanding of financial and operational metrics to serve as a value-added business partner. Critical qualities to succeed in this role include the ability to take ownership, think independently, manage projects, develop relationships across the company, and possess the willingness and desire to continuously build industry and technical knowledge.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Analysis
  • Responsible for reporting and variance analysis of unit and programmatic operating results against budget and prior year.
  • Supports project accounting by preparing cost estimates.
  • Prepares standardized financial modeling (where appropriate) to support executive team decision making including the development of strategic analysis related to return on investment, cost savings/efficiency calculations and business model evaluations.
  • Responsible for long-term projections, "What if" scenarios, Adaptive Planning reporting, and special projects as assigned.

Financial Systems/ERP
  • Responsible for ongoing development and maintenance of budget software, including developing and modifying calculations within the software, creating and updating reports and providing training and end user support; development of ERP queries and reports; and for ensuring the ongoing maintenance of ERP system data.

Budgeting
  • Participates in annual forecast and annual budget preparation, compilation monitoring and review process as well as analysis and reporting of the budget data.
  • Trains staff members and management in budget process; provides ongoing support to staff and management throughout the process.
  • Develops and presents budget materials to senior leadership and governance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including experience communicating and preparing presentations for senior leadership.
  • Proven track record of solid analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with financial modeling and data analysis.
  • Able to work independently and within a team.
  • Accounting and information systems background including budgeting and/or reporting systems.
  • Well organized with an emphasis on time management skills and attention to detail.
  • In-depth working knowledge of Oracle (ERP) and Adaptive Insights is desired.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word experience.

Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience of a combination of financial analysis and accounting with an emphasis on financial modeling and data analysis experience.
  • Experience working with financial systems.

Education

Bachelor's degree in a related field or a combination of equivalent education and experience
