Department Summary:

MITRE's Finance organization is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to support the Center for Government and Effectiveness Modernization (CGEM) Work Program (sponsors include the U.S. Department of Treasury, Veteran Affairs/DoD Health, and Commerce). As a Senior Financial Analyst in CGEM Finance, you will serve as the primary source of financial management and business decision support, playing a key part in the business operations functions that maximize MITRE's value to our government sponsors.

This will be a hybrid role located in our McLean, Virginia office.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a trusted Business Partner: understand and manage the full end-to-end business lifecycle of a CGEM Finance Division within a $260M+ portfolio, including, but not limited to, the business unit's strategic goals, sources of revenue, demand forecasting, indirect rate performance, hiring planning, use and deployment of direct and indirect resources, budget constraints, and data/information requirements
  • Lead recurring financial business reviews to center Directors and Operations leadership team
  • Communicate financial results effectively with powerful visual narratives and storytelling
  • Analyze and diagnose business drivers using various financial systems and apply a broad range of analytical techniques to identify business issues, opportunities, and risks
  • Collaborate with line business leaders, MITRE Contracts, and sponsor counterparts
  • Support leadership on financial planning, forecasting, and ad-hoc projects
  • Engage with broader Finance team to ensure cross-organization collaboration, integrated business operations, and consistency in execution
  • Collaborate with Treasury to maintain timely accounts receivable and sustain positive cashflow
  • Deliver training on financial tools, principles of project financials, and MITRE business management

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in preferably in finance, accounting, economics, or related field and 5+ years of finance and/or accounting experience. Comparable education and experience will be considered.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (i.e., Pivot tables & Core functions) and Microsoft PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of finance and/or accounting experience within the US Government (Federal) practice of a professional services firm
  • Experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) or related role
  • Experience with Deltek CostPoint, Tableau, and/or Cognos Analytics is a plus
  • Continuous improvement mentality with the capacity to drive change

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation, and influencing skills
