Primary Duties
The Senior Financial Analyst, Patient Supply Organization (PSO) and Capital will provide finance support to the PSO and Capital Programs functions, respectively. Reporting to the Finance Business Partner, PSO, the position will be an effective member of the FP&A team supporting business departmental owners. The position holder will provide stakeholders awareness of the financials enabling them the ability to make operational decisions and provide timely and accurate data as it relates to capital expenditures. This position will offer support and be responsible to gather critical data points that will allow for effective planning, reporting, and financial analyses of capital projects. This role may also be involved in ad hoc projects that support driving the organization towards optimal efficiency and effectiveness.
Key duties will include:
- Provide finance support to functional and departmental owners
- Preparation of monthly actual cost reporting for both strategic capital, as well as, business capital projects, respectively
- Preparation and delivery of timely, accurate and insightful financial reporting and variance analysis to FP&A leadership that details actual cost reporting for key capital projects in the organization and analysis of capital spend vs. budget.
- Preparation of monthly accruals and journal entries, where applicable.
- Ability to identify key business drivers and foresee operational issues.
- Assist with financial planning processes, including the annual budget and latest estimate exercises, particularly relating to the capital budgeting process.
- Proactively seek to enhance ways of working and partnering with the business, including participation in monthly capital finance meetings to aid support.
- Complete ad hoc projects and analyses as needed
- Contribute to the Spark Finance function
Responsibilities
Assist in monthly financial accounting/review process for capital expenditures:
- Identify and explain material budget vs actual variances
- Preparation of monthly actual cost reporting for both strategic capital, as well as, business capital projects, respectively
- Preparation and delivery of timely, accurate and insightful financial reporting and variance analysis to FP&A leadership that details actual cost reporting for key capital projects in the organization and analysis of capital spend vs. budget.
- Tracking of material shift's in spend and ongoing commitments
Preparation of monthly accruals and journal entries and review of purchase orders.
- Collect and track supporting data needed for accruals
- Ensure coding accuracy to G/L
- Assist PO owners with open purchase orders and closure (or provide direction if amended funds are needed)
- Tracking of material shift's in spend
Be a resource to business to help understand their function's financial goals and results in relation to Budget / Latest Estimate achievement.
Assist and work with FP&A team and business partners in the creation and development of the financial portion of key company processes as it relates to capital expenditures (i.e., Annual Budget, Latest Estimates and Long-Range Planning).
Assist FP&A management on ad hoc projects as needed
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance
- CPA, or working towards preferred
- Minimum 4-7 years of relevant financial experience; preferably in the biopharmaceutical industry
- Prior financial experience relating to financial reporting for capital expenditures/projects preferred
- Ability to quickly learn automated tools/technology for budget preparation, consolidation and financial reporting.
