Senior Financial Analyst - SEC Reporting

RELATIONSHIP & SCOPE

The Senior Financial Analyst will report to the AVP, SEC Reporting and is a pivotal member of the unit responsible for the preparation of consolidated financial reporting and SEC filings. The Senior Financial Analyst will interact with both external auditors and a diverse group of internal personnel including senior management, divisional leadership, other financial analysts, and functional staff with the objective of interpreting financial data and meeting external reporting requirements.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the preparation of annual and quarterly SEC filings including financial statements, footnotes, and disclosures, while maintaining proper supporting documentation,
  • Take ownership of, and be accountable for, various analytical and reporting responsibilities that require the ability to work across the entire organization,
  • Recognize, research, and resolve SEC reporting and general accounting issues,
  • Analyze technical accounting topics and propose conclusions,
  • Assist in XBRL tagging and reporting for all SEC filings, including researching tags, peer analysis, and keeping up-to-date with revised taxonomies,
  • Assist with the implementation of FASB projects and standards and other in-house projects, as required.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Technical Skills:

  • 4+ years of experience in finance or accounting functions, preferably in the insurance industry,
  • Bachelor's degree in business, preferably with a major in accounting,
  • CPA designation not required but preferred,
  • Excellent computer skills with prior experience and/or the ability to quickly learn accounting software,
  • Microsoft Word and Excel experience required.
  • Workiva (Wdesk), including XBRL tagging
  • Intelligize
  • PeopleSoft general ledger
  • Querying TM1 databases
