Senior Financial Reporting Accountant

Job Description:

The Senior Financial Reporting Accountant will be responsible for preparing all quarterly and annual public company filings, actively participating in month-end close process, and assisting the Director in the assessment of technical accounting matters. This role is also responsible for M&A accounting and documentation of internal controls. This Senior Financial Reporting Accountant will interact closely with members of accounting, finance, HR/benefits, legal, and internal audit teams, along with independent auditors to ensure accurate reporting and full compliance with all external standards and perform financial analyses or other ad hoc projects when necessary.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Preparing the Company's SEC filings within Workiva software, including the preparation of footnotes and maintaining the documentation supporting information in the filing.
• Actively participate in the month-end close process including preparing thoroughly documented journal entries and account reconciliations within equity, debt, goodwill, intangible, pension, and capitalized contract cost accounting.
• Understand, document and properly account for the Company's stock-based compensation utilizing third-party stock compensation software.
• Perform technical accounting research as needed and prepare memos documenting conclusions and proper accounting treatment.
• Assist in the proper performance and documentation of internal controls primarily within the financial reporting and equity areas.
• Provide detailed financial statement account analyses (e.g., balance sheet and cash flow fluctuation) for management and external auditors.
• Assist with the accounting for M&A activity.
• Support both internal and external audits.
• Participate in the development of accounting policies.
• Support the accounting department on special projects and activities, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• CPA required
• 3-5 years experience in Accounting; 2-3 years of Big 4 experience combined with experience in a corporate accounting setting highly preferred
• Strong knowledge of technical GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
• Stock compensation accounting experience preferred
• A solid understanding of the concepts of internal control design and operational effectiveness

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Strong knowledge of GAAP including experience performing research on technical accounting issues and the analysis and reporting of financial data including an understanding of the basic financial statements, including cash flows.
• Proficient computer skills in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
• Strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to prioritize workload based on organizational demands. Operates with a sense of urgency as appropriate.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to interact directly with all levels of Management
• Knowledge and experience with SAP GL helpful, but not required
