Job Description

POLITICO is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Financial Reporting Analyst to join our team. As a Senior Financial Reporting Analyst, you will be involved in various aspects of the controller office's operations, including supporting and/or owning aspects of our financial reporting, tax compliance, and ICFR processes. You will report to the Assistant Controller. The ideal candidate has a CPA license and experience working in an accounting firm and/or in corporate accounting.

What You'll Do:

  • Co-manage tax obligations at the federal, state, and local levels, to include: payroll taxes, income taxes, sales taxes, and other miscellaneous taxes. Collaborate with external tax consultants to ensure compliance and manage tax-related risks
  • Assist with the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring both accuracy and compliance with IFRS reporting requirements
  • Support the Assistant Controller in serving as a liaison to our parent company, Axel Springer SE, to include: supplier reporting, corporate risk assessment, and various other corporate compliance requirements
  • Support the Assistant Controller in overseeing the financial statements audit, 401(k) benefit plan audit, and operational audit. Coordinate with external auditors to ensure timely completion of audits
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and implement effective policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard POLITICO's assets and maintain compliance
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization. Contribute to streamlining workflows and enhancing overall efficiency

What You'll Need:

  • CPA license and a Master's degree in Accountancy are strongly preferred. Candidates pursuing their CPA or possessing equivalent educational or work-related qualifications will also be considered
  • Prior experience in a big four accounting firm and/or at a large corporation is advantageous. Familiarity with financial reporting, tax compliance, and managing audits is preferred
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and generate meaningful insights
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate and error-free work
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams. Ability to maintain regular communication with the Assistant Controller, and to be proactive is preferred
