Senior Financial Reporting Analyst

The Job/What You'll Do:

AssetMark is looking for a motivated and high performing professional to join our Controllership team as a Financial Reporting or Senior Financial Reporting Analyst (depending on experience). This role will be primarily responsible for technical accounting, supporting our external audits, SEC and statutory financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with US GAAP, SOX, and corporate policies. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting working in a fast-paced, complex and team-oriented environment. This position reports to the Financial Reporting Manager.

This is a full-time position in our Concord, CA office with a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities:

• Interpret U.S. GAAP accounting standards and SEC guidance to determine the accounting and financial reporting treatment for new, material, and/or complex, unusual transactions or agreements
• Prepare technical accounting memorandums for significant transactions and support the review process with finance management and external auditors
• Provide insight to or participate in the preparation of new or existing accounting policies based on evolving industry standards and best practices and drive changes in those areas
• Prepare and/or review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements including tie-out for all SEC filings in accordance with US GAAP, internal policies, SOX and audit requirements
• Assist in the creation of financial reporting-related policies and procedures
• Lead the external auditor's review of the SEC filings and coordinate quarterly reviews and annual audits of financial statements
• Act as the liaison between the external auditors and client operational areas
• Assist company operational teams and company management in addressing and resolving issues arising from external audits
• Assist with monthly close activities, including preparing various journal entries and account reconciliations
• Provide insightful financial analysis including explanations of variances between actual and prior period results and present findings
• Prepare ad hoc analyses for management and auditors, as needed
• Supporting various aspects of our accounting and reporting process

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Excellent understanding of US GAAP and financial statements
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Proactive, detail-oriented go-getter with strong critical thinking and organization skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Result oriented and demonstrate a sense of urgency

Education & Experience:

• A Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, or related field
• At least three years of financial reporting or public accounting experience
• Experience with preparation/review of Financial Statements including disclosure checklist
• A CPA (or in progress)
• NetSuite and Workiva experience

Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $80,000-$110,000.

This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.
