Senior Front-End Engineer - Exchange and Marketplace

GEICO is seeking a dynamic and visionary individual to join our Exchange Hub Engineering team. The Exchange Hub team is dedicated to facilitating seamless and secure communication and collaboration across all internal and external third parties by collecting, managing, and optimizing the exchange of data.

An ideal candidate is intellectually curious, has a solution-oriented mindset, and enjoys learning new tools and techniques. You will have the opportunity to design and deliver the centralized and secure data exchange platform, related SDK, and related tools to collect, manage, and analyze user data from various sources for personalized and data-driven Insurance products and services. You would be delivering a Marketplace for 1st and 3rd party integrations. You would utilize Metering, Telemetry & Streaming Technologies to enhance risk assessment and customer engagement through real-time data collection, data store and data analysis.

The ideal candidate has deep technical knowledge in Front-End systems and a proven background in JavaScript, Flutter, ReactJS, Java, Linux, Microservices, Containers (Kubernetes), and designing, implementing, and maintaining front-end UIs.

As a Senior Front-End Engineer, you will: • Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient distributed systems • Build product definition and leverage your technical skills to drive towards the right solution • Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycle • Lead in design sessions and code reviews with peers to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization • Define, create, and support reusable application components/patterns from a business and technology perspective • Utilize programming languages like JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, C#, Python, and Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of Azure tools and services across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication) to perform advanced-level Java application design under minimal direction• Mentor other engineers • Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams • Utilizes developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication) to perform advanced-level Mobile/Web/UI design, implementation, and maintenance activities under minimal direction

Qualifications • Fluency and specialization with at least two modern languages such as JavaScript, Flutter, TypeScript, JSX, Java, C++, Python or C# including object-oriented design • Proven understanding of micro-services architecture and extensible REST APIs • Advanced understanding of DevOps Concepts and Cloud Architecture• Experience building the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems • Experience with application monitoring tools and performance assessments • Knowledge of security protocols and products: Understanding of Active Directory, Windows Authentication, SAML, OAuth • In-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithms• Knowledge of Kubernetes or willingness and ability to learn• Experience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as code• Strong problem-solving ability• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment • Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication) • Experience in Web Application Frameworks• Experience in securing web applications

Experience • 4+ years of professional software development experience within Web frameworks/SDKs/languages • 3+ years of experience with architecture and design • 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service • 2+ years of experience in open-source frameworks

Education • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience

Annual Salary

$82,000.00 - $185,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
