Senior Frontend Engineer, Business Intelligence - (Remote, Americas)

This is a fully remote position and we're considering candidates in the Americas Eastern Time zones

Grafana is the de facto monitoring tool for server infrastructure but is looking beyond monitoring to a next important use case, that could be even bigger: business intelligence. 

We'd like our users to go beyond just understanding the data, but rather enabling them to tell a story with it. Concretely we'll work towards:

• Allowing data to be consumed by less technical people
• Making it easy  to analyze disparate data sources easily and seamlessly getting data into Grafana in an easy way
• giving users the means of what data they can consume
• exploring the data of each data source

What you will work on

• Creating and updating data sources related to BI (including SQL databases, Google Sheets, CSVs, and more!)
• Maintaining, updating, and adding  visualization that are important for BI including scatter plots, bar charts, and others
• Enable workflows around data exploration and discovery
• Build tooling to get data into Grafana and have it available (Snapshotting)
• Extending Grafana around a data transformation pipeline

Who We Are Looking For

• You are comfortable working in a remote-first company; communication is key. For us, working together means being collaborative, friendly, kind and respectful. We operate by consensus, you can contribute to a discussion but then commit to the team decision.
• You have at least a couple of years of experience as a fFront-end developer. We are a small team, working remotely, on a product that will be used by engineers all over the world – the ability to work on your own, and ship working code is crucial.
• You have a good understanding of a software development process that takes a user-centered approach.
• You easily build an understanding of the users’ context and goals which will help you build the right solution that brings the biggest value to them.
• You know how to transform ideas into working code – you are able to design a solution, get feedback, and write a prototype by yourself.
• You are able to communicate the design decisions clearly in written and spoken English.
• You enjoy working on complex solutions – Grafana is a highly technological solution and has avid followers who rely on it every day and care deeply about their workflows.
• You have an active interest or knowledge in the BI space is a plus

Our tech

• We work with React as our framework, Typescript, Redux, and RxJS
• Our data sources and backend code is in Golang
• We use Storybook to communicate internally and externally (e.g plugin developers can see what the component library looks like and offers) 
• Emotion is our choice when it comes to styling, but there’s some SASS around too
• Webpack is our current bundler
