Job Description
Who are we?
Â
We are The Motley Fool, a purpose-driven financial information and services firm with nearly 30 years of experience focused on making the world smarter, happier, and richer. But what does that even mean?! It means we’re helping Fools (always with a capital “F”) demystify the world of finance, beat the stock market, and achieve personal wealth and happiness through our products and services.
The Motley Fool is firmly committed to diversity, inclusion, and equity. We are a motley group of overachievers that have built a culture of trust founded on Foolishness, fun, and a commitment to making the world smarter, happier and richer. However you identify or whatever winding road has led you to us, please don't hesitate to apply if the description above leaves you thinking, "Hey! I could do that!"
Â
At Motley Fool Money Management, our team utilizes technology to optimize investment strategies, balancing risk and reward while ensuring a seamless investment process for both clients and our business. From enhancing client-facing web applications to integrating with financial/technology systems, our mission is to create value every day.
Â
Â
As a Senior Full-Stack ReactJS and Python/Django Developer, you'll become an integral part of our existing team, contributing to the management of billions of dollars in client assets across diverse funds and businesses. While a financial background is very beneficial, it's not mandatory; we value individuals ready to immerse themselves in the business and develop expertise over time.
Â
But what does this role actually do?
Â
- Build new features and maintain the existing infrastructure of the SMA system, powering foolwealth.com, generating algorithmic advice, and equipping certified financial planners with tools to enhance global investment strategies.
- Integrate with technology partners such as Interactive Brokers, Charles Schwab, Orion Advisor, and HubSpot to manage client accounts, trade assets, deliver performance reporting, and track client relationships.
- Collaborate directly with key stakeholders, including financial planners, customer experience representatives, traders, marketers, and business leadership, in defining requirements and designing innovative features.
- Navigate the challenging balance of complying with financial regulations while delivering software in an agile environment.
- Help architect new features
- Help raise the bar across the entire regulated tech team by mentoring junior members and being able to engage in cheerful technical debate
Â
We’d love to work with you if:
- You solve problems: Identifying issues and inefficiencies is second nature to you, and you actively propose and implement solutions.
- You pay attention to detail: You understand the importance of accountability, actively seek code reviews, and value testing for robust solutions.
- You’re curious and love to learn: Your appetite for knowledge extends to the latest technology, understanding the business, and the realms of finance and investing.
- You take pride in your work: Ensuring a seamless experience for every customer is your priority, and you are committed to building solutions that meet high standards.
Â
What do you need to apply?
- Proficiency in ReactJS/NextJS and Python/Django (5+ years experience)
- Proficiency in web markup, including HTML5 and CSS3
- Experience writing code that is deployed to a cloud environment
Â
It’s even better if you have:
Â
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- Ability to fully implement a reference design from Figma into code
- Familiarity with D3.js or other visualization/graphing/charting libraries
- Work experience in e-commerce, finance, investing, or FinTech
- Advanced SQL skills
- Experience with containerized deployments using Docker and/or Amazon ECS
- Solid understanding of AWS native tools
- A solid understanding of financial industry data providers
- Experience with Microsoft Playwright, Cypress or other similar testing tools
Â
If you're excited about leveraging ReactJS and Python/Django to revolutionize the world of finance and investing, and you resonate with our values, apply now for an opportunity to shape a bright future with us!
