Senior Full Stack Web Developer

What's the opportunity?

This is a full time position.

Engineering at Dispel is a technical and social experience. We are a small, but growing team in which every person participates in solving problems and improving code/infrastructure. This is a journey and we want it to be rewarding and fun.

As a Full Stack Web Developer you will work on building and enhancing the Web Console and API services our clients use to manage infrastructure and the people who access critical system networks around the world. Our frontend is a React single page app, our backend is a Node/Express API and our data is stored in PostgreSQL.

We are a small but skilled engineering team and you will have the opportunity to make a big impact and share/learn a lot.

Location

We are a 100% fully remote company (U.S. only). You are welcome to use our office in Brooklyn, New York City. We also plan to open an office in Austin, Texas, where the majority of our engineering team is located.

Stack includes

Node, React, Express, Webpack, React-Router, Storybook, Jest, Mocha, PostgreSQL, Redis, Heroku, Swagger

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience.
• Comfortable with modern web development landscape.
• Have experience working with React.
• Must have been deeply involved with at least one API, preferably one that is un-opinionated such as Express, Koa or Flask.
• Fast learner. Degrees and certificates aren't a determining factor for us. Rather, we value your ability to care about your work and learn fast.
• Communication and team culture are very important to Dispel. These criteria are soft, but just relax and be genuine.

Extra Credit

• Working on an advanced web stack that was based around React.
• Unit and integration testing of websites and APIs.
• Storybook experience.

Good Personal Traits

• A willingness to accept failure and feedback, learn and try again.
• A passion for learning new disciplines and gaining a deep understanding of how others on the team do their work.
• An ability to communicate clearly and succinctly both in-person and over team chat.
