Location

• Purple Carrot HQ is in Needham, MA and prefers local candidates to work in a hybrid model.

On the Plate

• Deliver end-to-end website features and solutions across the application stack in an iterative manner
• Design and implement new features within/across the full stack to deliver product initiatives leveraging knowledge/experience with web development, AWS, modern web programming/frameworks/libraries
• Produce performant, extensible, and secure code to support new features
• Refactor existing code to improve performance, security, or adaptability
• Fully participate in agile requirement/design processes, estimation, refinement and other team duties
• Produce design documentation, participate in code reviews, author unit tests, and leverage QA process to ensure bug free code
• Mentor and collaborate with more junior developers, co-ops or interns in the course of development
• Develop full understanding of Purple Carrot's systems, code and integrations to deliver quality code in a timely manner

Main Ingredients for the Role

• BS or MS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
• Direct engineering experience delivering full-stack, scalable, performant, and secure web applications, 5+ non-intern years
• Expertise in a variety of web technologies and architectures, including 4+ years experience with Javascript, Ruby, React, AWS, Rails. Familiarity with various frameworks/libraries for web and mobile development
• Experience with API development using REST/GraphQL
• Experience with databases, AWS services, CI/CD tooling, and secure coding/system design
• Ability to lead feature development with more junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and collaborate with Product Management to define features
• Ability to estimate work required for delivery of features, communicate when new circumstances affecting timelines arise, and provide options as appropriate
• Able to work in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced and dynamic environment

Extra Special Sauce

• Data infrastructure experience for operational applications
• Mobile development experience with React Native and mobile application management systems a plus
• Experience with QA process and best practices for secure and performant code
• Ecommerce B2C experience, SEO, supply chain, marketing applications
