Senior Gameplay AI Software Engineer

We are a bold people-first recently established AAA game studio seeking a passionate and innovative Senior AI Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role you will spearhead the development and integration of leading AI technologies using Unreal Engine 5. Your expertise will be pivotal in creating immersive game environments that differentiate our player experience. This position offers a unique opportunity to blend traditional game AI techniques with modern machine-learning working closely with a team of talented developers and designers to bring our unique gaming narratives to life.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design development and implementation of AI systems using Unreal Engine ensuring seamless integration with game mechanics

• Collaborate with the game design team to conceptualize and execute AI strategies that enhance gameplay and user experience

• Drive AI initiatives providing technical guidance mentorship and support to ensure project goals are met

• Stay abreast of the latest developments in AI and gaming technologies and incorporate innovative solutions into our game designs

• Optimize AI algorithms for performance and efficiency ensuring we meet our performance targets on our shipping platforms

• Contribute to the creative process by providing input on game design from an AI perspective

• Manage and prioritize project tasks and deliverables maintaining clear communication with project stakeholders

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence or a related field

• At least 1 shipping AAA console (Microsoft Sony or Nintendo) game title from concept to final build

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in AI programming within the gaming industry

• Proficient in using Unreal Engine for game development with a strong portfolio showcasing AI implementations

• Solid understanding of AI concepts such as pathfinding decision trees state machines and modern AI principles and techniques using machine learning and neural networks

• Proficient with modern C++

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Compensation Range:

• Canada: $156000 - $193000 CAD

• United States: $200000 - $242000 USD

The expected annual base pay ranges reflected in this job description are applicable to individuals residing in or working within a designated location. Any final compensation offer will depend on various factors.
