Position: Senior GL Accountant
Reports to: Senior Manager GL
Location: Atlanta, GA
Team: Finance
The Role:
The Senior Accountant will report to the Senior Manager GL. The position will be responsible for general ledger accountability from an insurance perspective, financial reporting, and special projects as needed. The Senior Accountant will be an integral part of the Finance team, interacting with team members and external constituents. We are looking for someone who will help to enhance our processes and build upon the accuracy of our financials.
Key Responsibilities:

Serve as an SME in the general ledger areas in charge, own processes end to end and be able to independently conducting accounting standard research and propose treatment and adjustment

Take a risk-based approach, and thoroughly understand audit methods. Implement check points and internal controls to ensure data integrity and reduce financial risks

Identify and drive continuous process standardization and improvement to enhance efficiency

Prepare month-end journal entries related to all categories of expenses
-
Perform balance sheet reconciliations
-
Research, validate, and reconcile discrepancies of various accounts
-
Perform Trial Balance analysis, review details to provide explanations for material changes
-
Manage and record intercompany transactions, monitor and proactively resolve mismatches
-
Responsible for the accounting of fixed assets and intangible assets, including acquisition, capitalization, depreciation and disposal

Prepare and submit external carrier reporting and process payments associated
-
Responsible for equity accounting

Assist with annual external audit and the five-year regulatory examination

Support in ad hoc projects as assigned, and shadow in the technical accounting areas
Requirements:
-
Strong accounting knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and Statutory principles
-
Strong analytical, quantitative and communication skills
-
Experience within the P&C insurance industry
-
Detail oriented and organized in work
-
Able to handle multiple tasks in a deadline driven environment

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Computer Skills:

Strong data processing skills in Microsoft Excel
-
Familiar with Oracle and other Office suites

Education:
-
BS or MS degree in Accounting/Finance
-
CPA required
Experience:
-
3-6 years in P&C insurance accounting, finance or equivalent business experience

**Please note this position is hybrid and requires two (2) days in office weekly**
