The Role:
The Senior Global Mobility & Immigration Specialist will be responsible for consulting with and educating managers, business leaders, and Human Resource business partners on global mobility, immigration and relocation policies to ensure smooth transitions throughout Cognex. Reporting to the Director, Global Total Rewards, the right candidate will apply their understanding and appreciation for immigration policies, attention to detail, organization, and dependability to their work in support of the HR team, employees, and potential new hires. We are looking for someone who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves to get the job done; someone who takes their work seriously but not themselves.
Essential Functions:
Global Mobility
- Provide updates on assignment status to HR Business Partners and business leaders as required
- Educate HR Business Partners and leaders on mobility processes and policies
- Monthly audit of mobility expenses and updates to finance for permanent transfers
- Assess tax implications and compliance for global assignments and/or permanent transfers
- Benchmark industry standards for most current procedures/policies
- Ensure that stakeholders are kept up to date real time on issues, approvals and updates related to the employee and ex-pat experience. Including but not limited to senior leaders, HR Business Partners, Compensation, Benefits and Payroll
- Manage external vendor partnerships for destination services, tax advice, immigration advice and provide necessary information to vendors to facilitate relocations, support reporting, and engage with employee
- Provide support to the employee and internal stakeholders on processes, policy, and issues related to mobility and partner with cross functional groups to ensure holistic support throughout the assignment period, including legal, tax, benefits partners to ensure collective awareness of assignment and its impact
Immigration
- Coordinate immigration applications and visas, permanent residency sponsorship process, as well as other tasks needed to support immigration programs in coordination with outside law firm
- Must be proactive and able to identify potential issues ensuring business needs are met while ensuring legal compliance for work authorizations, etc.
- Stay up to date of foreign national employees' job changes (locations, duties, terminations) to ensure nonimmigrant work status is in compliance
- Maintain immigration and global mobility records, including Public Access Files.
- Promote internal education by developing and updating immigration resources, process flows, and procedures for HR Business Partners, Recruiters, Managers, and foreign nationals to include FAQs, presentation slides, and policy documents
- Maintain legal immigration tracking system
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience managing multiple vendors, navigating competing priorities and ambiguous projects
- Ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential materials
- Ability to deliver within deadlines and strength in facilitating change on a broad scale
- Dynamic problem solver with strong project management, organizational, decision-making and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions to address scaling challenges and drive process improvement
- Self-starter with willingness to take initiative, support strategic priorities, take ownership of assigned projects/initiatives, contribute to results and be committed to meeting tight deadlines
- Exceptional planning skills and ability to manage multiple high-visibility projects simultaneously
- Strong formal and informal presentation skills
- Detail-oriented with a very high level of accuracy
- Ability to learn quickly and problem solve effectively
Minimum education and work experience required:
- Strong project management skill is required; PMP certification is a plus.
- BS/BA degree is required, preferably with a concentration in Human Resources or related field
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in Global Mobility, Immigration and/or Relocations
