Senior Gradle Build Engineer, Android

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role you will be able to take advantage of our hybrid work environment from our NYC HQ office.

Peloton continues to develop and deploy innovative Android Apps on our world class hardware (Bike, Tread, Row, Guide) in addition to our new Android Mobile and TV Apps.  We’re not slowing down, and need a talented Senior Gradle / Android build engineer to keep our team running both fast and efficiently. We view this as an absolutely critical role that enables our future success.

As a Senior Gradle Build Engineer on the Android Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for building tools to improve developer experience.  We use the Gradle build tool extensively, and will count on this role to keep things running both smoothly and quickly for our large Android dev community.

You will help bring our developer experience to the next level: introducing new technologies, enhancing our CI Pipeline, and improving build times across multiple Android applications. As a critical member of this team, embedded within the Android Applications team, you will contribute to shipping our Google Play Store mobile app, our Fire TV app, Studio app, and the flagship Peloton experience that comes with every Peloton Bike and Tread. You will also have the responsibility to assist and grow the more mid/junior engineers around you.

YOU BRING TO PELOTON

• 5+ years of software development experience, 3+ years Android development experience 
• Solid understanding of Gradle and experience optimizing builds 
• Demonstrable understanding of Kotlin and Java 
• Ability to improve build times in a large codebase with shared modules across multiple platforms 
• Ability to build Gradle plugins, compiler Plugins and tools to automate and improve developer experience 
• Have experience working on a platform team that focuses on improving developer experience across multiple feature teams 
• Ability to evaluate and communicate different engineering solutions and trade-offs 
• B.S. in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent years of work experience 

BONUS

• Have experience using gRPC and GraphQL 
• Have experience using Kotlin Multiplatform 
• Have experience building annotation processors 
• Have experience with build automation with Jenkins 
• Experience with GitHub Actions 
• Have Github project(s) or contribute to open source communities

Base Salary: $172,100.00 to $223,800.00

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position based at our New York City headquarters. The actual base salary offered for this position will depend on numerous factors including individual performance, business objectives, and if the location for the job changes.
