Yorktel is currently seeking a Senior Graphic Designer who has the ability to provide on-site support in graphic design as well as to learn and apply new and emerging technologies. Provide assistance in the areas of graphic design and production, desktop publishing, publication development, intranet/internet HTML/PDF conversions, technical writing, editing, and the creation of specialized multimedia presentations on a task order basis to assist in the development of print media.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Senior Graphic Designer shall have 8 years' direct experience or a Bachelors' Degree in Graphic Design or Fine Arts plus 3 years of direct experience in Graphic Design field. The Graphic Designer shall assist in digital and print graphic design, publication development, desktop publishing and the creation and editing of specialized multimedia presentations on a call order basis. The following skills are required: 1) Contractor personnel shall be able to use the Microsoft Office Suite software applications; 2) shall be able to use Adobe Creative Suite software applications (current versions) in support of graphic design and other multimedia presentations; 3) shall be able to use the most current version of Adobe Acrobat and capable of converting documents from various software applications into .pdf format; 4) shall be able to create and convert documents from various software applications into web-friendly graphic files compatible with existing internet and intranet infrastructures; 5) shall know how to print, cut, laminate, and mount printed designs posters, etc.; 6) shall be able to proof read and edit documents to ensure spelling, grammar, and layoutconversion rules; 7) shall stay educated with the most current and emerging graphic design technology; 8) and other duties as assigned including mentoring for Junior and Intermediate level Graphic Designers.
  • Provide high quality customer service at all levels
  • Meet with client to discuss strategy/content/design/software for development of multimedia presentations
  • Create designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design concepts
  • Mark up, paste, and assemble final layouts to prepare layouts for printer
  • Draw and print charts, graphs, illustrations, and other artwork, using computer
  • Ensure spelling, grammar, and layout conversions rules such as hyphenation standards meet client criteria
  • Review final layouts and suggest improvements as needed
  • Prepare illustrations or rough sketches of material, discussing them with clients and/or supervisors and making necessary changes
  • Develop graphics and layouts for product illustrations, company logos, and websites
  • Prepare notes and instructions for workers who assemble and prepare final layouts for printing
  • Develop negatives and prints to produce layout photographs, using negative and print developing equipment and tools
  • Photograph layouts, using camera, to make layout prints for supervisors or clients
  • Performing Intranet/Internet HTML/PDF conversions in conjunction with all graphic design software in use
  • Produce still and animated graphics for on-air and taped portions of broadcasts, using electronic video equipment
  • Knowledge of and adherence to York Telecom policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Qualifications
  • 8 years' experience in a graphic design or Bachelor's Degree in graphic design plus 3 years' experience in graphic design customer service area or Master's Degree plus 1 year experience in graphic design or Associate's Degree in graphic design plus 5 years' experience
  • Use of software applications (Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Web Compatibility, etc. in conjunction with desktop publishing and manipulation graphs, spreadsheets, etc
  • Knowledge of Quark Express Passport Edition software
  • Printing - shall know how and be able to print, cut, laminate, and mount printed designs such as flyers, banners, backdrops, etc
  • Design Display - shall be able to set up banners, banner-ups, flyers, backdrops, posters, and other large graphic displays
  • Proof Reading/Editing - shall be capable of reviewing documents to ensure spelling grammar, and layout conversion rules such as hyphenation, standards, etc
  • New and Emerging Technologies - shall be and stay educated on the most current and emerging graphic design technology and software

Additional Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs
  • Frequent sitting, standing, and walking
  • Limited weekend and/or night work may be required
  • Must be able to pass suitability requirements
  • Must be willing to complete background checks and drug tests as required by current or future contracts
