Job Summary 

The Senior Graphic Designer will be an integral part of the Shinola creative team. You will work alongside a team of passionate individuals to create, hone and evolve the Shinola brand. As part of an inter-disciplinary team responsible for the branded look, feel and content creation for the brand. They will produce world class designs with an incredible attention to detail that inspire people and invite them into our world through beauty, craft and creativity.  Along with other members of the team, you’ll push the boundaries of creative storytelling, design and functionality.  

 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop and champion great ideas to support amazing products and campaigns
  • Collaborative spirit. You will work across departments to develop ideas that are rooted in a strong brand narrative and timeless design.
  • Channel and apply the distinctive Shinola brand through a digital lens:
    • Site
    • Newsletters
    • Paid Campaigns
    • Blog
    • Social
  • Harmonize with other creative contributors (ecomm, devs, ux/ui, designers, photographers, videographers, retouchers, art director, digital director, copywriters, social media and creative management) to create amazing work that’s personifies the Shinola brand.
  • Attend weekly cross-functional meetings to propel projects forward. Take the lead if need be.
  • Take pride in presenting & explaining your work – in email or face-to-face settings
  • Revel in details. Nothing escapes your keen eye
  • Work with a sense of urgency and deadlines - and be willing to quickly pivot
  • Able to provide actionable QA feedback and notes to cross functional teams that bring your designs to life: dev, ecomm, ux/ui. Elevate issues within the team when necessary
  • Communicate clearly and concisely through production tools to ensure seamless transition and handoff of work through internal and external review cycles.
  • Partner, mentor and help grow team member’s skill sets through knowledge sharing and training sessions
  • Take a proactive approach to project challenges in terms of design needs, working to predict and mitigate roadblocks

 

 

Qualifications

  • BA/BFA college degree in Graphic Design, Communication Design or Advertising Design is highly preferred  
  • 5+ years design experience - some agency and studio

 

Hard Skills 

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite 
  • Video editing, motion graphics knowledge - Preferred 
  • Magento and coding knowledge  - Preferred 
  • Ziflow and Asana  - Preferred 

 

Soft Skills 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to meet deadlines and collaborate with a team
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge/ passion of for culture, craft, fashion, design, and aesthetics
  • Ability to develop a unique vision for the brand 
  • Ability to think creatively and deliver clever concepts

Hiring Overview: 
  • HR Phone Screening - 30 minutes via Microsoft Teams (camera off)
  • Technical Interview with Hiring Manger  - 1 hour via Microsoft Teams (camera on)
  • Take home assignment - 30minutes -2 hours of work
    • note: select positions may not require a case study assignment
  • Final Interview with Panel - 1 hour via Microsoft Teams (camera on)
