Position Summary:

As a member of our Customer Success team,  the Specialist, Benefits Advisory works alongside our Canadian Employer Health and Welfare consulting team to develop a deep understanding of employee group benefit plans and Benefits Administration technology.  The Senior Business Analyst will support an assigned book of business by responding to client requests, providing analytical support, and managing day-to-day service and support.  The Specialist, Benefits Advisory is responsible for providing subject matter expertise to both clients and our internal stakeholders, building and maintaining strong relationships.

In this role, you will:
  • Provide direct day-to-day problem solving support for clients in relation to their group benefits programs; immediately flagging situations that require urgent attention

  • Support client communication through drafting of presentations, benefit guides, claims experience reports, and virtual and in-person meetings

  • Perform data entry to support quarterly and annual financial analysis for a broad range of clients in a variety of industry sectors

  • Analyze and prepares information relating to benefits plan annual renewals and client marketing proposals

  • Review insurance contracts, documentation, and financial statements

  • Support the lead consultant in managing projects, conducting or directing research, and drawing meaningful conclusions from client and market data

  • Gain insight and build knowledge of our organization, its services, people and purpose

  • Maintain accurate client information within internal systems

  • Mediate with internal administrators and insurance providers regarding administration of client plans

  • As needed, support review of payroll files, carrier files, and premium statements to ensure accuracy

  • Assist with special projects, as required

Security-Related Responsibilities

  • Compliance with Information Security Policies
  • Responsibility and accountability for executing League's policies and procedures
  • Notification of HR, Legal, Compliance & Security of any incidents, breaches or policy violations
About you:
  • Post-secondary education in Commerce, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, or Human Resources

  • Completion of courses related to Group Benefits (e.g. Certified Employee Benefits Specialist – CEBS, insurance license, and actuarial designation) are not required, but would be an asset

  • Licensed in Ontario and BC (or required to be within 60 days)

  • Technical expertise in renewal analysis and negotiations

  • Working knowledge of MS Office and/or Google Suite tools; Advanced Proficiency is an asset

  • Experience working in a high-paced, growth environment

  • Excellent communication, project management, collaboration, time management and presentation skills

  • Analytical problem-solver with exceptional customer focus, critical thinking skills and ability to recognize trends 

  • Group benefit experience in consulting, underwriting and/or working with various funding arrangements is an asset
