The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$108,480 - $162,720

RESPONSIBILITIES
This role performs the following tasks for multiple concurrent projects spanning dozens of analytical teams and business units across the enterprise.
- Responsible to Perform Big Data Platform Administration and Engineering activities on multiple Hadoop clusters in cloud (AWS EMR).
- Work on Performance Tuning and Increase Operational efficiency on a continuous basis
- Monitor health of the platforms and Generate Performance Reports and Monitor and provide continuous improvements
- Lead and participate in the design and implementation of our analytics infrastructure to align with the vision of HIG Platform Infrastructure
- Provide architectural guidance and technical direction for the most challenging big data and analytics solutions
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring and oversight for less experienced data engineers
- Act as a subject matter expert/ Tech Lead for existing data platforms, tools, and application interfaces, providing root cause analysis and resolution of business/technical issues
- Work on a highly scalable, available and resilient multi-tenant Platforms that can host large scale and highly critical applications.
- Collaborating with partners from business and technology organizations, develop key deliverables for Data Platform Strategy - Scalability, optimization, operations, availability, roadmap.
- Perform security remediation, automation and self heal as per the requirement
- Build partnerships with other technology teams to drive efficiency in their use of platforms and services that PaaS provide
- Take ownership of Platform/PaaS architecture and drive it to the next level of effectiveness to support current and long term requirements
- Evaluate, implement and administer emerging data technologies, focusing on: big data, analytics, data wrangling, business intelligence and visualization
- Collaborate with and enable data engineers, data scientists and business analysts to self-service data wrangling and analysis
- Support development of training materials and perform end-user training to ensure a high degree of customer engagement
- Support documentation, metadata and visualization of data assets
- Builds strong commitment within the team to support the appropriate team priorities
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field. Experience may be gained as part of a qualifying post-baccalaureate academic program.
- Advanced knowledge of Platform administration, data engineering, big data, analytics and operations concepts and technologies, such as: Hadoop, Linux, Python, SQL, Spark, Kerberos, cloud, security, performance tuning, machine learning algorithms, production engineering, job scheduling and operations support
- At least 7 or more years of solid, diverse work experience in IT, Platform administration, database management, analytics or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- At least 2 year of experience (or equivalent training/certification) developing solutions with AWS cloud technologies.
- Must have experience with AWS EMR
- Experience in Configuration management using CloudFormation / Terraform.
- At least 3 years of experience supporting developers with languages, such as: Python and SQL.
- At least 3 years of experience providing architectural guidance and technical direction to developers, or platform administrators
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Preferred to have "AWS Solution Architect Certification".
- Preferred to have "Hortornworks / Cloudera Admin Certification".
