UKG is looking for an Engineering leader in Systems Engineering and Electromechanical Systems for the current and next generation of UKG's market leading workforce management data collection hardware products.
As part of the Data Collection Value Stream, you will lead the hardware team and work closely with your peers in the software, supply chain and manufacturing operations group to manage the complete hardware lifecycle for our data collection products.
Responsibilities:• Provide direct and on-going leadership and mentorship to a team of individual contributors responsible for hardware device/Timeclock and peripherals, EE and ME solution development, integration, tuning, system validation and prototype build • Ensure that all hardware projects and processes conform with standards and certification requirements, reviewing and approving hardware (Electrical/Electronic and Mechanical) design changes. • Provide input to strategic direction and decisions that affect the functional area of hardware engineering and provides input in developing the budget for hardware engineering team. • Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other disciplines such as manufacturing, supply chain and platform software engineering • Apply advanced technical knowledge, effective leadership and communication, people, time, and resource management to direct staff in solving complex HW EE and ME technical issues. • Responsible for ensuring requirements, providing guidance, and acting as a checkpoint for internal Reference systems and designs. • Develop a high performing group by providing mentorship, coaching and career guidance to team members. Provide technical leadership to the team to ensure efficient design to stay on budget and schedule. • Provide continuous improvement on established engineering processes by ensuring effective design methodologies, state-of-art design tools, design automations and innovations. • Contribute to, and at times serve as project manager for, critical hardware projects to ensure development objectives and timelines are met. • Engage and partner with technology vendors on replacement parts/electronics as well as lookout for future technology roadmap. • Approve schematics, PCB layout and parts/component changes and Performs First Article Inspections to validate actual hardware matches the BOM. • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering leaders (supply chain, procurement, manufacturing, operations, product management) to ensure hardware change lifecycle and rollout to production. • Anticipate future hardware and peripheral needs and develop a 2-3-year hardware roadmap
Qualifications
Minimum required qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Electro-Mechanical Engineering (Master's degree preferred)• 15+ years' hands on experience in electrical/mechanical/systems engineering and designing digital electronics circuit of which 8 years or more have been in a hardware engineering management and people management role • Solid background in hardware architecture and design, Electronics design, Digital design, FPGA/ASIC design, Mechanical design • We are a hybrid shop; being on site 3 days/week is required
Preferred qualifications/experience• Some hands-on experience in Systems integration test, debugging and problem-solving skills. • Good understanding of platform engineering with board bring-up process, Uboot, Kernel, Embedded Operating systems (Android OS experience preferred)• Cross functional experience in working with Operations and Process Development • Good understanding of Hardware change control and ECO process • Experience with tools like SolidWorks, MATLAB • Experience with various reader technologies integration and understanding of RF / antenna designs a plus. • Experience working with test and certification labs for multi-country approvals• Experience working with and understanding of OEM/ODM/manufacturing
