Job Description

Optiver is seeking a Senior HPC Research Engineer to contribute significantly to the development and management of our research infrastructure across both on-premises and cloud platforms.
This role involves hands-on work in scaling and supporting high-performance computing (HPC) and storage systems, which are critical for our growing demand in research across various trading-related domains, including quantitative and options research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, optimize, and support HPC and storage systems on-premises and in cloud clusters (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to OS, storage, network, and other infrastructure components, collaborating with other infrastructure teams.
  • Drive innovation in research infrastructure by implementing new technologies and methodologies.
  • Manage diverse compute capabilities, including CPU, GPU, and specialized processing solutions.
  • Work directly with software engineers to provide a fully integrated research platform for the company.
  • Align infrastructure capabilities with the evolving needs of quantitative and options research

Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of Linux systems and environment.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Ansible, Terraform, etc.).
  • Proficiency in managing cloud solutions like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Solid understanding of high-performance computing (HPC) environments.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills in complex infrastructure scenarios.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with diverse and global teams.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in research infrastructure or related fields.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
