Our Ways of Working

We have team members located across the United States spanning multiple time zones. This means we put in extra effort to make sure we connect and collaborate in ways that make sense for us. We know how valuable the flexibility of remote work is for our employees. Due to the nature of this role, we would expect someone to be onsite in our Los Angeles location 2-3 days per week to support our exempt and non-exempt employees on site.

We know that personal connection is the foundation for the great work we do together. In order to quickly build those relationships, we offer the opportunity to meet with coworkers in person two times a year at a full company offsite and a departmental offsite. These are great opportunities to meet the people you work with every day and to do some of the work that is much more difficult to do virtually. Most of our roles are fully remote, but these opportunities to meet in person will involve limited amounts of travel.

What the Role Is

The Sr. HR/People Operations Generalist is one of the go-to people for employees, supporting a best-in-class employee experience that drives high performance. You are passionate about working with people and figuring out how best to support the valuable work they provide in service of our mission. This is a hands-on role where you will focus on aligning our people and our mission through people programming, employee relations and support, training, and compliance. You will work closely alongside the Sr. People Operations Manager and Director of People Ops to cultivate a smooth, aligned, and exceptional workplace experience.

  • Obsessively organized - you love a project plan, documentation and project management tools, you have keen attention to detail
  • Proactive - you see an issue and develop a plan, you prioritize based on what’s most impactful
  • High ownership - your work is your reputation and you own something all the way through to solution, even if it’s not you who ultimately does the work
  • Growth-mindset  - you look for incremental improvement in all you do, soliciting and providing feedback and engaging in learning as much as you can about each
  • Humanistic - you believe that one of the key ways in maximizing human potential is to develop an ecosystem around them that supports them as a human being first, you are self-aware and have a high EQ
  • Detail oriented - you pay attention to all the details and correct where necessary
  • Collaborative - you are comfortable navigating both internal and external partners to solve problems - Sequoia, Newfront, Syndesus / Boldr, etc.
  • Certified - PHR or SHRM completion is preferred but not required

How You Will Make an Impact

  • In partnership with third-party vendors, manage the day-to-day operations of training and onboarding, and the delivery of Babylist University programs to employees.
  • Act as the go-to person for employee inquiries related to People Operations including but not limited to benefits and leave; performance and talent management, recognition; safety; and training and development for our employees. Refer complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.

Babylist takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area.

A wide range of factors are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; and other business and organizational needs. Exact starting pay will be determined based on skills and experience as well as location. We hold two compensation reviews annually to review pay for performance and market and run an equity analysis to ensure our pay practices are fair and unbiased.

A reasonable estimate for the current range in each zone is:

  • Zone 1  $90,000 - $129,000
  • Zone 2  $81,000 - $117,000
